Most of the losses in revenue and profit are attributable to the introduction of the cancellation policy. Competition will be the main issue imo. Not brexit/currency exchanges etc

Hello, can anyone shed some light on this for me please?
The share price has been in free fall since April/May 18. The company has generated significant cash and I can't justify such a significant share price decline. My only question is about the future. Is the competition in a position to take market share, causing revenue and cash generation to take a significant hit? is there any evidences suggesting such a scenario? What are the main concerns that have led to such a price drop?

Ah! Thanks, good point, I wasn't aware of that.

And then the point is even more valid. Curious to see who were the big buyers of the last few weeks.

The report is because Miton has merged with Premier and they are reporting the combined holdings of the new FM group. It does not look like any new shares have been acquired.

Miton increased position to 13.9%. Interestingly, since Miton last reported (mid-October), they “only” bought c. 1mn shares, which is a relatively small fraction of the high volume traded since that date. That means that other holders have increased their positions significantly.

Yeah if you managed to pick the very bottom. That's simply not repeatable even if you managed to get it right on this share. Sold this much higher when trend broke down and atm this still remains in a counter trend rally within an overall downtrend

A trade buyer has its own IT platform and can deal with the issue. I am not a strategic buyer but a cautious investor with limited IT know how and no coding skills!

Woozle, you previously gave the answer to your own question: similar to yourself, strategic buyers are waiting for an excuse to buy. That will hopefully come in the form of bookings trends “not worsening”.

I would like to know why on earth they didn't buy some shares when there was 20 million or so available in the 105-112 range. Someone took their eye off the ball. It's all very well buying now but it will cost us (as shareholders) 20- 25% more.

Hi Woozle1, my view on your points:
- Hostelworld has in fact concluded most of its hiring by now. Admittedly there will be some increase in costs next year as the numbers are annualized, already included on analyst models. As you hinted at, part of the development cost is capitalized, therefore it is better to look at FCF as the kpi for valuation. FCF yield is still very high.
- I tend to agree with you on the weaknesses of an LTIP. I certainly wish management would buy some shares. Interestingly, at least until a couple of months ago, the previous CEO has not sold his shares.
- Yes, the Google issue is indeed a negative, but was well flagged as a detriment to margins in H1. The less bad point is that bookings originated from paid marketing already represent only one third of HSW's total.
