31/1/2018 07:56 | Thanks for that article Twigs3, .....Based on an EV market share of less than 32% in 2030, forecast metal requirements are roughly 4.1m tonnes of additional copper (18% of 2016 supply). The move away from gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles would need 56% more nickel production or 1.1m tonnes compared to 2016 and cobalt supply would have to triple to 314,000 tonnes. | uapatel

29/1/2018 17:27 | Twig, In a sign of how much the electric car industry is changing the market, the London Metal Exchange said it may offer a nickel contract specifically targeting the battery market. This may address the cost of producing Nickel from Limonite for EV you wrote above "I don’t have a ready answer for the first issue, but UBS has shed some light on Limonite. The problem with Limonite is the difficulty and cost in extracting nickel from this ore type. Special High-Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) plants will need to be built and the current price of nickel cannot financially justify the investment. So, if Limonite is seen as a solution to filling the supply gap, it can only mean one thing – higher nickel prices." | jailbird
29/1/2018 15:56 | I had assumed the seller was Lombard Odier but since we have not seen a TR-1 recently maybe not. Impossible to know when the selling will stop but extremely positive that the share price is holding up regardless. | hobs
