don't you need to change the thread to 25p MBO.

never buy a share on rumor as you will get badly burned in this market, take this as a lesson to you all. the market always knows and you should have known by the way the price has been coming down over the past month. seen this to many times chasing shadows. as they say LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY WELL SOME TIME'S

The difference seems to be that I called to place a complaint, not to enquire, and they told me an investigation was already open and that I should receive a call of the person in charge of the investigation. I have not received the call yet, but I imagine some information will come out during the conversation.

I have no motivation to misslead anyone. I only have to gain from existing investors getting together to try reduce the damage. You always have the option of filtering me out (click on my name over this message and click on Filter User).

Well I just called the FSA myself and they said

"We do not reveal to the public if is there is an enquiry in progress against a particular company until the enquiry is complete"

They also said the only way they would register a complaint is if it's in writing to them, and then they would not update with of the progress, Just publish when complete

The correct procedure for complaint is to contact the Compliance officer of the Company (Pah!) who have 10 days to respond, if satisfaction is not forthcoming them you have to take your complaint to the Financial services Ombudsman

The Stock Exchange is the place to complain to

So I think you're making it up Zynks...

Buyout reignites Holmes growth plans

London, 22/5/2003, (venturedome.com)

Holmes Place, the fitness club chain, will be able to recommence its rollout programme in continental Europe when its £25.4m takeover is completed.

Private equity firms Bridgepoint Capital and Permira together with banking group Lloyds TSB are leading the buyout of the firm, which is around £185m in debt.

"The company is currently unable to fund its obligations to roll out more clubs in continental Europe. But the expansion programme will be put back on course because a substantial amount of the company's debt will be paid down as soon as the deal is completed," says Permira partner Charlie Troup.

Troup also says the firm will be prepared to capitalise on acquisition opportunities: "We are focused on organic growth but there will be consolidation in the sector going forward and if the right opportunity arose, we'd look at it."

The recommendation from the Board will come as a relief to the two private equity protagonists, which have been pursuing Holmes Place through the trading turmoil of the last ten months. Last September, rival Cannons walked away from a possible 200p per share offer for the firm - a far cry from the 25p per share the latest deal represents.

The health and fitness sector boomed during the 1980s and 1990s, resulting in over-inflated valuations. With greater competition and a consumer downturn, which make it hard for operators to attract new members, many of the sector's former leading lights have been forced to issue profits warnings and seen their share prices tumble.

As a result, private equity firms have been attracted by the industry's reasonably sound medium to long-term growth prospects. Duke Street Capital acquired Esporta for £133m in a hostile buyout last year, while Fitness First last month accepted a £204m offer from Cinven.

Permira says the make-up of the management team at Holmes Place will be known soon. CEO Allan Fisher and former joint CEO Lawrence Alkin have sold their combined 26.3% stake in the firm to bid vehicle Health Club Group.
