03/1/2019 20:18 | BOWL one of Investors Chronicle’s Tips of the Year 2019. | alan@bj
14/12/2018 11:35 | Well 180p would have been a good price. | yump
11/12/2018 15:29 | My instinct is wondering whether I should stay invested in a business that generates the title of 'talent director', but it all seems to be doing well and the divi is nice. 'onboarding' - Sell signal 'KPI' - Sell signal - avoids actually talking about real sales and money 'new logo' - if you haven't seen this one, it was introduced by Falanx, instead of 'new customer' !! I'm still shaking my head about that last one and its been a while since it appeared. For the moment, I'll just assume 'talent director' is just a bit of corporate nonsense. The sort that you use to move someone out of the job where they were no good (because you can't sack anyone nowadays), to a new job where they can't do any damage. | yump
11/12/2018 15:25 | Well no, chasing prices up in a bad market isn't the best strategy, instinct or not. There will be lots of potential bites at most juicy cherries imo, as at the moment they are all seen as being mouldy. Even if a deal is announced on Brexit, the actual results of it on business will drag on over quite a while, so apart from a 'relief' jump in the market, I can't imagine the bull market resuming in a hurry. Time for stock-picking; time for those who actually do decent research to benefit. | yump
11/12/2018 14:14 | LOL. My eyes were attracted by the title and I didn't read the name. Actually, I had the best sleep last night I've had in a long time but nothing to do with share prices or my IRV loss would have kept me awake all night. Anyway, it looks as though my instinct that the share price would be lower today proved correct so just as well I didn't top up y'day as I was initially tempted to do. | bouleversee
11/12/2018 08:01 | Woman by the look of it, although I wouldn't want to be accused of being politically incorrect - it says 'Melanie', but I don't want to jump to conclusions. Anyone who thinks the sale by a talent director is a worry shouldn't really be in the market at all - you'll just never get a good night's sleep. | yump
10/12/2018 20:42 | Well, it wasn't only the ST that was pumping; I saw others as well. However, it doesn't inspire confidence and encourage one to buy or top up if a director sells a large quantity when the share price gets back to what it was a year ago. NO idea what a talent director does but if the share price rapidly drops back again, we'll know the man's certainly got talent. Of course, he could be shorting with his own money. | bouleversee
10/12/2018 19:52 | 100k sale by direxctor into the sunday times pump | opodio

10/12/2018 08:37 | Hasn't caused a huge rise in the share price so far. Still a long way of July heights. | bouleversee
10/12/2018 08:11 | Revenue £1m less than analysts predictions, but pre-tax profits are £0.6m higher at £23.9m.Final dividend 4.23p plus special dividend 4.33p both payable 27/2/2019 to holders on the register 1/2/2019. Total dividend for the year 10.59p. On Brexit, the Chief Executive says, "Given the nature of our activities, which have huge customer appeal throughout the country and through all economic cycles, we do not believe the exit of the UK from the EU will have an impact on the underlying performance of the business." | alan@bj
09/12/2018 17:46 | Indeed. I can hardly find any black on my extensive p/f. | bouleversee
09/12/2018 17:28 | Same here. It’s not just HB’s share price that’s been hit though, by any means. | alan@bj
09/12/2018 16:45 | Let's hope they are right. I seem to remember reading something similar just before I did get on board and am now losing the paper gains I made thereafter as well as some of my stake. | bouleversee
09/12/2018 16:10 | Extracts from a recommendation in today's Sunday Times:- Hollywood Bowl is due to report full-year results tomorrow and analysts expect it to announce another special dividend, after a 3.33p-per-share payout last year. Shore Capital is predicting a shareholder gift of 3.5p to 4p. Analysts expect revenue to reach £121.3m, up from £114m last year, while pre-tax profits are expected to be £23.3m. Investec has a 255p target on the company, while Berenberg and Peel Hunt are predicting 250p. The recent dip in the share price gives investors a chance to get on board. | alan@bj
10/10/2018 08:33 | Last 3 years like for like: 2016 Half to March: 10.4% Full to Sept: 6.5% 2017 Half: 1.2% Full: 3.5% 2018 Half: 4% Full: 1.8% Make of that what you will. Is 2016 a Christmas effect ? Is 2017 a bad weather effect ? Is 2018 a good weather effect ? Whatever the conclusion, if any, I'd like to see some IMMO VR installations in BOWL venues. | yump |
