Can not see the US Gov shutdown having much effect on gold price.

At the moment, all the cash is going into the DOW and other shares.

Pitbull- so far the jury’s out i and after reading stuff for a couple of hours my view is no one knows. This is the most sensible view i could find but you still have to make a judgment - i dropped short futures position on gold Friday pretty much neutral as not sure either way. Leota stocks though. Fingers crossed for a rise though hxxp://www.thedailyeconomist.com/2018/01/the-government-has-officially-shutdown.html?m=1

Talk of gold going higher into the weekend close
as the dollar falls. A close above $1340 for
starters would be fantastic, dyor.

SR and Pen, thanks. On gold price in general, I concur. Unstable world, USA stocks at record levels and UK etc and yet gold price keeps going up- all it takes for a correction in equities which could easily occur in USA, and gold jumps.

Yes that is what I have always thought, we produce
at a low cost, and sell into a rising gold market,
which imho will touch $1400 this year. They have also spoke
about doubling production in the next couple of years, but
I feel we will be approached.

Higher production will produce more operating profits so
I am happy to continue to buy as I feel the gold price
will rise, dyor.

penfold6 - interesting to read that analysis , I had not seen any before , that seems to me to have come to a similar conclusion to my 5 minute read through the latest RNS - restores my faith in skim reading and picking up salient points....

SR- further to my note yesterday on company info, quick big of digging, again all info available but would welcome a comment on this. As I said Q4 looked good- but no financials since Interim for the first 6 months which reported, highlight "H1 2017 EBITDA was US$73.2 million, a decrease of 8.1% from H1 2016, chiefly due to a stronger rouble (average exchange rate was 57.76 RUB/USD in H1 2017 vs 70.23 RUB/USD in H1 2016), higher production costs and utilisation of low-grade ore at BG.
EBITDA margin for the period was 50% versus 54% for H1 2016.". So, the average gold price for the first 6months was $1,237.5 and the average price for last 2 quarters was $1,278.5 a 3.3% increase on the first 6months. Overall the 12months price was $1,258 whereas in 2016 it was reported as $1,136. So surely very promising?

Due to what has been stated on the pog thread, maybe
thsat is the reason MR. Abromovich has taken full
control of the 8% stake, who knows, dyor.

GC,

I believe HGM is a qualifying business under Business Relief, as long as you hold it two years.

Interesting news from POG, could they be looking to buy hgm, there
was talk last year between them both, dyor.

========================

Gold moving up, lets hope we get close to $1348 soon, dyor.

this is what share price angel said back in december

*Conclusion: The Company has doubled its dividend payments in 2016 (10.4p/$42m or 31% of NCFO v 4.5p/$22m or 21% of NCFO in 2015) on the back of strong performance. With 2017 shaping as another good year and interim dividends reiterated at 5p, we expected the Board to reiterate last year’s final dividend of 5.4p bringing total for the year to 10.4p or 6.7% dividend yield (35% of NCFO), the highest level among major London listed precious metals miners. Applying 20% of NCFO policy to H2/17 takes dividends to 3.3p in H2/17 and 8.3p for FY17 (5.4% yield). In 2018e the policy brings dividends to 6p (3.9% yield at $1,225/oz gold price and 265koz assumption), excluding special dividends. We think the dividend policy accounts for a capital intensive 2018-19 period on the back of Kekura development costs, Novo 1.3mtpa project expenses as well as an integration of the Blagodatnoye deposit and optimisation of the processing plant at the Khabarovsk hub with dividends expected to increase once major development projects ramp up raising NCFO*

The divi one is a tricky one to read, but my take is good- and it was well received in share price when announced. All info available but my take- total production exceeded targets from jan2017 predictions, good. Q4 OK, but not exceptional. Targets for next year OK- to achieve 4.3% like last year, it's in the upper side of the tonnes forecast but not the top, but still good growth. Abramovich increase good thing. Kekura feasibility study is only slightly late, but no warnings flagged so could be very good. Operating costs not flagged as issue, good. Share price today impacted by Fed news last night (20:00GMT) which caused dollar to drag back urgently, and gold to get hit- overnight rally has dropped and dollar weakening again which is good for gold.

Mmmmmm, so what are saying.......the divi will be reduced, and a special divi is unlikely.

Is this double speak, in the update.

Do they aim to cut the divi, but don't want to say it.

Well we have both sides now.

I have also read they are looking to double production
in the coming years so I am happy, dyor.
