she-ra....wrong again, file sharing has had an almost zero effect on DVD sales, the number of people with a fast enough connection is minimal. You can see just how small it is by the limited offering on the filesharers compared to music.
The real problem has been lack of strong copyright protection on DVD's.You can hire a film, crack and copy it at just 35p per film.This has led to the mass piracy with films available in every car boot sale. This in turn has put additional pressure on the rental and new sale market. Hence the Blue-Ray format which gives hardware protected copyright protection is so eagerly awaited by the Film Studios.

she-ra....28 million people still only watch 4 television channels. Because BT is trialling a service that only a few people will actually use hardly represents the death of video rental. SKY has pumped Billions over decades to try and woo the British Public but only a relatively small minority actually use them.
To participate in the "download revolution" will require very high speed broadband and yet another box on your television. But the actual cost of a film will be unchanged.
We may see all sorts of wonderful developments in the future but HET is and will be priced on the expected trading performance over the next 24 months not hit n miss technical services which may or may not even find a market.

Another 400 trade gives another tick up.
There are uncertainties in the future that is for sure but all I am going on is that HET are returning to profit ..... end of.

I wonder if she-ra has a stop-loss on his short....if this gets above 65p it could be rather painful for shorters. Until then I have to admit the jury is still out.

siwel100 - BT are about to do it through the telephone line and the ISPs are going to link up with the TV.

I think you should do some research.

Movie Downloads are coming. And to certain extent they are here through file sharing which is hammering DVD sales.

She-Ra...there are two basic mistakes you made;
1. Blue-Ray provides copyright protection which is the reason the studios have signed up so keenly. piracy is a major problem and is highlighted by HET, the new DVD formats remove the issue hence supporting both the rental and new sale markets.
2. Movie Downloads to hard drive is an eon away. Currently 40% of the UK dont even recieve digital despite the best efforts of Sky and the cheapness of freeview boxes. For movie downloads to even work you need massive penetration of extremely high speed broadband and mass puchase of on demand boxes. Despite again the best efforts of Sky, their own limited version of "on demand" service is struggling. You seem to be mistaking "on demand" for "cheap".It wont be, hence the demand for equipment by the users will not be stoked.

The point worth mentioning in the short term is the current £20 million sales of console games.A soft market today but the new XBox is in full production and PS3 hits this year providing both a sales and more importantly a margin boost for HET.

SP's look 12/24 months into the future, hence the picture ahead is a lot stronger than that looking back. With the share price on its back, hardly suprising it is starting to move.

Nick - There's no mystery about this, the list of major shareholders is on the company website here:

Add Gyllenhammar and you get about 85% of the 18 million ordinary shares in issue held by 7 major shareholders. By "free float" I did't mean a special category of shares, merely those which are not in the hands of the major shareholders. The point is that these are the shares which tend to get traded more readily, so if they constitute only a small percentage of the total you can get big share price moves on relatively low volumes. Of course you need a bit of demand for shares to get this effect to operate, but if you do there could easily be a sharp move up.
