23/5/2008 10:16 | I would of thought these higher charters would mean they will beat forecasts... any thoughts????? Slap | slapdash
23/5/2008 09:40 | News is a valuable boost to income and visiblity of earnings. Also the Hellenic Sky due for renewal later this year should at least double its rate under current conditions. The shares look cheap. Previously the fleet deployment of Hellenic was as follows: Vessel Type Year Built Yard Carrying Capacity (dwt) Charter Type T/C Expiration Date (1) Daily Charter Rate US$ (Gross) M/V Hellenic Breeze (3) Panamax 1993 Tsuneishi Shipbuilding, Japan 69,601 T/C 25/07/2009 71,000 M/V Hellenic Sky Panamax 1994 Sasebo Heavy Industries, Japan 68,591 T/C 27/11/2008 23,000 M/V Hellenic Sea Panamax 1991 Jiangnan Shipyard, China 65,434 T/C 30/05/2009 37,500 M/V Hellenic Horizon Handymax 1995 Halla Engineering & Heavy Industries, Korea 44,809 T/C 30/06/2008 38,000 M/V Konstantinos D Supramax 2000 Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding, Japan 50,326 T/C 26/05/2010 64,250(2) M/V Hellenic Wind Panamax 1997 Tsuneishi, Shipbuidling, Japan 74,000 T/C 14/07/2011 54,000 Total Fleet: 6 Vessels 372,761 | deadly
23/5/2008 08:10 | Looks like these guys have played the game reasonably well.... already have 30% of 2010 committed so we will be getting big fat dividends for a while yet... quality of earnings therefore excellent.... maybe this charter means they will beat earnings???????????? Slap RNS Number : 1346V Hellenic Carriers Limited 23 May 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Fleet Employment Update HELLENIC CARRIERS CHARTERS ITS HANDYMAX VESSEL "M/V HELLENIC HORIZON" FOR TWO YEARS AT US$45,000 PER DAY Press Release 23 May 2008 Hellenic Carriers Limited, ("Hellenic" or the "Company") (AIM: HCL), an international provider of marine transportation services for dry bulk cargoes, today announces that it has entered into a time charter agreement for the M/V Hellenic Horizon for a period of minimum 24 months to about 26 months at the gross rate of US$45,000 per day. The charter is due to commence by 10 July 2008 with delivery of the vessel in the Indian sub continent. The M/V Hellenic Horizon is a 44,800 dwt Handymax built in 1995 at Halla Engineering, & Heavy Industries, Korea. Fotini Karamanlis, Chief Executive Officer, commented: "With this fixture we have increased our time charter coverage for the whole of 2008 to 97% and this has vindicated our decision in April to deploy the M/V HELLENIC HORIZON on a short term charter until the market improved. We also continue to build a solid time charter cover for 2009 and 2010 with 65% and 30% respectively already committed." | slapdash
20/5/2008 15:02 | I am suprised the stock price hasn't been stronger here..... hmmm... we will have to wait... I owuld of thought 260p+...... slap | slapdash
19/5/2008 14:00 | Quickly comparing HCL and GLBS HCL GLBS Number of ships 6 8 Age of ships (31-12-07) 10.7yr 11-12yr Dwt'000 373 416 Enterprise value $360 $478It strikes me that HCL should be 30% higher just on a comparable basis to GLBS. I haven't done the numbers for GOC. Assuming a $45,000 TCE and 6 ships, HCL should be doing about 62.5p per share EPS, so currently on about a P/E of 4. With these sorts of paybacks I can't see why they are paying so much out in dividends. | stemis
16/5/2008 08:54 | stegrego - no I don't think the shipping issues will go away... credit crunch is almsot a year old and it has been curtailing ship building... so we may well get another bumper year or rates or more until new shipping supply comes on.... slap | slapdash
16/5/2008 08:13 | Ive bought a few - i dont think the shipping problems and rates are going away any time soon... A couple of renewals due in a few months, which should add to the momentum here | stegrego
16/5/2008 07:09 | Pretty impressive rate .... Press Release 16 May 2008 Hellenic Carriers Limited, ('Hellenic' or the 'Company') (AIM: HCL), an international provider of marine transportation services for dry bulk cargoes, today announces that it has entered into a time charter agreement with Rizzo Bottiglieri-De Carlini Armatori SpA for the M/V Hellenic Breeze for a minimum period of 11 months to 13 months at the gross rate of US$71,000 per day. The charter is due to commence by 25 June 2008 with delivery of the vessel in the Middle East. The M/V Hellenic Breeze is a 69,601 dwt Panamax built in 1993 at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Yard in Japan. Fotini Karamanlis, Chief Executive Officer, commented: 'Hellenic has achieved an impressive fixture at a gross rate of US$71,000 per day, which exemplifies our strategy of opportunistically seeking medium term coverage in conjunction with long term employment providing visibility of cash flows. This fixture with an established charterer is at a much higher rate than the vessel's previous short term employment at a gross rate of US$64,000 per day. We estimate that this charter will generate about US$23 million within the 11 month time frame. With this fixture we have increased our time charter coverage for the whole of 2008 to 88% and are continuing to build a solid time charter base for 2009 with 48% already covered by existing charters. | wassapper
12/5/2008 17:53 | waking from its slumber???? Slap | slapdash
11/5/2008 23:14 | really??Well not much happend to date.... slap | slapdash
08/5/2008 14:24 | hiya slap, doubt all the sells listed were in fact sells, or else price would have fallen. After GOCs recent rise I think this is now the cheapest shipping co. I think Jefferies had 100c eps penciled in for this year. | cb7
07/5/2008 18:27 | not many updates here... appears very illiqued and have had lots of selling in this one... also advfn appear to have reported the market cap incorrectly... Any views on it?? Or forecasts?? Slap | slapdash
