I missed this announcement yesterday from Viritech of its participation in an APC (Advanced Propulsion Centre UK)funded project (GBP16.3m of which part comes from BP, Ocado)

"Tuesday 09 May, 2023. Viritech is to play a major role in one of the UK’s most significant fuel cell hydrogen electric vehicle (FCHEV) projects: a programme to test the viability of fuel-cell versions of the UK’s best-selling commercial vehicle, the Ford Transit.

With the concern that Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) will be unable to fulfil LCV use-cases that require high payloads, high daily energy consumption, extended range, or where there are limited opportunities for charging, FCHEV offers a zero-emissions alternative that can address these deficiencies.

Viritech will develop hydrogen pressure vessels using its proprietary integrated mounting system which reduces the cost and weight of fitting hydrogen pressure vessels to a vehicle.

Current pressure vessels use external attachments which add weight, complexity and cost. Viritech’s breakthrough Graph-ProTM design, integrates the mountings into the structure of the pressure vessel, so they can be bolted directly to the chassis.

In addition, Viritech will lead development of Type 5 hydrogen pressure vessels. These are not yet commercially available, but offer the prospect of a significant weight reduction, thanks to the removal of the inner tank liner currently used to prevent leakage.

Viritech’s Graph-ProTM pressure vessel solution will be manufactured in the UK, and developed for volume manufacturing as FCHEVs become mainstream later this decade".

Graph-Pro's pressure vessel solution, I cbelieve, incorporates graphene nanoparticles functionalised by Haydale.

"In addition, Ford will test Viritech’s revolutionary Tri-Volt hydrogen powertrain ecosystem. Tri-Volt represents a radically different approach to the architecture of hydrogen fuel cell powertrains. Unlike other systems which use fuel cells to charge batteries to extend their range, Tri-Volt uses the fuel cell as the prime mover when a vehicle is at a steady speed, and uses very small, high C-rate batteries to manage power during transient conditions (e.g. pulling away from rest or braking). High C-rate batteries are able to charge and discharge far more quickly than conventional batteries and produce much more power for short periods – e.g. a 6KWH battery pack can produce up to 600KW for 20-30 seconds.

The Tri-Volt eco-system is a combination of hardware and software, and includes an ultra-high-performance DC-DC Convertor with an HV bus connecting the fuel cell, battery pack and traction motor. This integrates these components into a single system, removing the need for separate DC-DC convertors for the fuel cell and for the battery pack, saving significant cost and weight."

A very interesting expansion of my previous post (1882) with regard to Viritech.

A good announcement from the company this morning re cooperation with Saint Gobain. Although difficult to estimate what it might mean for the bottom line, the final paragraph gives plenty of room for optimism :

Saint-Gobain Boron Nitride Technical Manager Sarah Plain added: "hBN powder has historically proven difficult to functionalise without negative effects on thermal performance. Working with Haydale and their HDPlas™ technology has helped us overcome this challenge, which has led to exciting results during customer testing. We look forward to further collaboration with the excellent team at Haydale to deliver even more value to our customers."

!looking you might like to read this - it seems that CERN believes in the merits of Haydale functionalised by Haydale.

I think the reality is that graphene has huge potential. The problems are in companies actually being able to exploit that potential commercially....and here is where I take issue - haydale have so far failed to realise commercial products and, most importantly, meaningful commercial revenues

Volsung, you know that is not true. Recent statements from Prodrive, a Tier 1 manufacturer of composites to the motor industry, and from Norse Kayaks, have stated categorically that graphene, functionalised by Haydale, most certainly does work.

VRS competition AGM today. CEO garden leaved. Shares 30% down. Desperately seeking funds. Some working for non pay! Any prospect of consolidation in Graphene market to advantage HAY? Interesting!

I am aware that Viritech is undergoing a further round of Crowdfunding so visited its website to catch up on any news, having not heard much about the "Apricale" recently.
I was very surprised, and pleased, to see Haydale's participation in a further vehicle.

www.viritech.co.uk/news/viritech-and-haydale-to-extend-cooperation-in-hydrogen-pressure-vessels

This could be exciting - after all, there are many more delivery vans on the road than 'hypercars'.and HGVs would require so much battery power that weight available for freight would be limited severely. I would think that farmers would be happier also.

So you accused me of being a fake poster which clearly I am not as I do post! You have accused me of lying but failed to substantiate that libellous accusation. You seemed to take umbrage because I said there would be sellers at 2p....which there has, not surprisingly, been.....partly because that was the level of the most recent discounted fundraise and this week is an opportunity to get out for zero loss, and secondly because the market always gets spooked by the resignation of an FD....I know that having been in the markets for 25+ years....You are obviously a guy that only works Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday....and you still need to apologise for your libellous accusations that you have failed to evidence....Nothing I have printed is bullsh!t or lies....you may not agree with my view which is your right....but that does not make me a liar...I am waiting... either apologise or provide evidence I have lied.....which you cannot possibly do because I have not done so.....
