Active Savings must be a hot product right now with banks so unwilling to help the average man on the street

Support might not look as if it's gone but the appetite certainly has

Can see this heading to 800 level like a fellow poster

This move up ? Will be short-lived I think due in no small measure to the deterioration of the services offered by Hargreaves that attracted investors such as myself
The general malaise in the markets and lack of investors willing to do deals any deals at what should be a very busy time is a worry

Think this was behind the move back above 1000

Make the most of it I will be watching but money staying put

Happy investing all

if it closes below the 10.00 there could be a lot more pain v quickly with support gone.Theres obvi some relentless shorting going on with this, wonder if something is going to come out? Something related to Woodford?

Yes, shocking share price performance today and yday... so the Brewin Dolphin news hasn't helped at all. Even AJB have gone up!

Well with a market cap of $168bn, it should be easy enough to engineer, and with Schwab having a PE ratio of 31, HL's current low rating should be attractive, if they want to enter the UK market.

On 7 March Brewin shares got as low as 250p... less than 1 month later they are being bought for 515p in cash, which is pretty amazing - a £1.5b valuation.

HL share price on 7 March was about 970p, so that would imply a takeout valuation of around £19 if there were to be a similar premium, a valuation of around £9b - I assume Schwab have deep enough pockets?

My money is on Schwab, if they have ambitions abroad.

Interesting, Royal Bank of Canada and a very big rise for Brewin - 61%, perhaps why HL was up first thing? I still think a takeover approach is inevitable at some point if the shares stay around these levels.

ISA millionaires is good news for HL revenue as likely most are investors in funds rather than shares and HL make more out of fund investors than share investors.

Hi danmart2, standard settlement period for UK stocks is 2 working days and that would be the same with any broker. HL allow you to reinvest proceeds of a sale immediately (before the settlement date), but you would need to wait until the settlement date to withdraw and spend the cash. That should be the same with other brokers?

Or are you talking about funds rather than shares?

Question

Why does it take HL upto 4 working days to give you access to your cash when selling where as other stock brokers do it either immediately or within 24 hours?

charts for this look horrific, not sure id even try trading it. i could be wrong but im guessing 890 floor....it will keep getting hammered becos there is no catalyst and owner overhang...ftse 100 now working its “ magic “ on this too. Taking out weirdly anaemic recovery in oil shares, astra value and some miners the rest back at covid meltdown levels or worse. It truly is an index without hope. US looking interesting again value wise🤔 especially mega caps ( comfort blanket stocks )

The valuation is starting to look interesting for such a high quality operator. I have on my watch list, but I think the market has further to fall as it starts to adjust to a recession later in 2022.

Redemptions I suspect as Lindsell Train are encountering a rough patch. I'm sure they would still be buyers if they were having net inflows!
