Indeed, base rate hikes should allow HL to market Active Savings a lot more actively.

I've been buying more under 1,040p over the last few weeks (lowest 978p) as I'm still feeling confident for the medium term or for a takeover.

Well the market absorbed it. The base rate hikes will be a positive for HL (as long as they do not need to go too far!).

Lindsell Train have reduced by 1% on 16th March, so not good news for the bulls.

@davemac, actually it cant, there is not much left in the N. Sea and what remains would be incredibly expensive to drill as its basically going back into previous wells, its interesting with new tech how they do it but oil companies wont spend that money now with the energy transition…..plus you are talking about basket case UK, you really think they can get their energy organised? UK currently buy 35 pc of its power from France ( Nuclear ) FFS.

The last ten years has seen this company pull in, inexperienced investors, and fleece them of their savings.

Slick marketing has now backfired .

Expect the shares to half again from here

Black Rock up to 6% now (from 5%) and the purchase was made on 2 March (before xd) so they'll currently be under water on those. I wonder if they're snapping up more shares today? Price back over £10 now.

Quality growth/tech stocks in US, think Nvidia/Msft/Goog etc, tho not cheap have dialled back a bit, comfort blanket stocks as well, like Apple, good entry and the USD denomination will help. Every pull back in those type of shares if bought has been well rewarded. With what’s happened money will flow to the biggest most liquid and safest market, that is the US. As uncomfortable as it feels taking losses to free up cash this could be a brilliant time to move into some of those type of investments. In five years the likes of Goog will have doubled, tbh would you say with any confidence this will ever get back above 16 quid? The analysts miss the main point, a huge amount of the size of HL is unprofitable business, it’s about monetising the clients who move the needle, not just endlessly building out scale as Robin Hood found. This is still on a multiple that is too high. The other problem is the U.K. and Europe could be facing years of recession now, they are energy and commodity poor, the US on the other hand is energy rich, they have so much cheap LNG they can export and supply 100 pc of their own needs, the U.K. has had brexit/covid and now a euro war, if it only flat lines it will be a miracle. It’s the wrong market to be in.

At this rate Peter H might have enough to buy what he doesn't already own (perhaps backed by private equity) and install a new management team...

They are looking vulnerable to an opportunistic bid around £12 to £14 at the moment - which would be far too low IMO.

Much lower and they will be taken over.

I am looking to buy, as like Company like an Annuity, charge an Annual fee for parking SIPP's & savings. Customers are sticky, unlikely to sell up & move. But old sharemarket saying don't catch a falling knive?. So I am waiting, as have been burnt in past.

Buy rec in Questor of DT this morning:-

The combined effect, according to estimates from Numis, the stockbroker, will be “very rapid” growth, of 20pc or more annually, in earnings per share. That’s the kind of figure that should attract a pricey rating for the shares, especially in view of the strength and resilience of Hargreaves’ business model and brand, yet after the recent falls the shares trade at 23 times Numis’s estimate of 47.3p in earnings per share for the current full year, and 20.9 times the following year’s predicted 52p per share.Readers who followed our earlier advice to invest should hold on; others should buy.Questor says: buy

Sadly I'm in this one, under water naturally. Thankfully a modest holding being the only consoling factor...

Yes, pretty much every long investor will currently be in the red unless they took their first position on 22 Feb!

Markets tanking again just now - could be a good opo to top up under £11 before xd at close of play Weds.

Most peeps here in the red on this one? Realise it's not something most people would own up up lol! Think my average must be somewhere in the 1500s but I genuinely like the business potential

Hoping for an island reversal (candlesticks), downtrend - gap down - creates an island - gaps back up.
Doesn't look likely if we're going ex-div though.
