This SJP thing seems an over-reaction as far as HL are concerned. HL are down 4% and yet AJB are only down 1.5%.

SJP are a different type business to HL, and it's been known for years that their advisory fees are inflated. Their shares are down over 16% today. Tempting looking yield of 7.65% so I've bought a few at 684.6p, as it seems overdone - especially as they haven't even made any decisions yet. I suspect it'll be a bit like HL in 2014 when the RDR came in for investment platforms... there was a reduction in charges, but that was soon made up for due to increased assets under management and more clients.

Ah, yes, regulator has told them to sort out their charging structure. The FT are saying even the current small changes could knock 8% off 2024 earnings.Knock on effect and not good news I suppose as HL tries to build its own wealth business...

Might have something to do with its peer St James Place having issues with charges - see their RNS.

FWIW. Probably not a lot.

IMF believes Bank of England rates will peak at 6% and stay around 5% until 2028. Rates are currently 5.25%.

Forecasting that far into the future is not worth the paper it is printed on, but HL's first half should look good.

@AdamB1978, I think technically it's not a "Head & Shoulders" (despite looking like one!) because it didn't come after a prolonged uptrend. The definition is that a Head & Shoulders Top should signal a change of trend from up to down and is marked by the 3rd peak being lower than the 2nd and around the same level as the 1st. In the case of HL prior to the 1st peak we hadn't been experiencing a prolonged uptrend.

That's a good point @AdamB1978 - it looks like a H&S, but as you say it's pretty short term (left shoulder would indeed be June 2023) - and I think you're right that they are usually more long term. I will do some further research...

I'm not a chartist at all however do H&S patterns often form in short-term charts like you mention? If I understand you right, the first shoulder was in June this year

One word of warning is that the medium term chart (above right) is looking like it's forming a "Head & Shoulders Top" - if the "neckline" breaks (about 742.5p) it could lead to a nasty decline.
