Hardide Captures High Risk Chemical Process with ATEX Certified Digital Camera

Hardide Coatings, global developer of patented metal coatings for the oil industry, is using a new anti-hazard digital camera from CorDEX Instruments to capture chemical processes that have never been recorded before.

Hardide had struggled to find a camera robust enough to use in its high risk chemical tank areas, but was keen to be able to capture the process for product control and testing as well as training purposes.

The Centurion XP Dual is custom designed and ATEX certified for use in Zone 1 IIC T4 (explosive areas and vapour atmospheres). Encased in aluminium with an ultra-bright display protected by armoured glass, the XP Dual is custom designed for the harshest environments and can be used offshore without 'hot permits'.

Yorkshire headquartered CorDEX Instruments recently opened a base in Aberdeen and is building a reputation in the energy sector for its unique product range. It plans to launch more bespoke products during 2011 for use in hazardous areas.

Steve Guse, Operations Manager at Hardide Coatings said:
'We regularly use digital cameras to record processes for our clients and for internal use, but there are some parts of the factory that up until now have been 'no go' areas. A normal digital camera could create an electrical spark that would have disastrous effects in areas where we have chemical baths and stripping tanks. Not only did the Centurion XP Dual allow us for the first time to record images in these restricted areas, the design with large buttons and backlit display was ideal for use with the protective suits that our engineers have to wear.'

Oxfordshire based Hardide is the developer of advanced Tungsten Carbide based metal coatings that increase the life of critical metal parts operating in abrasive, erosive, corrosive and chemically aggressive environments. The coatings are used globally in a diverse range of severe service applications for customers from oil industry multi-nationals such as Weatherford International, FMC Technologies and Expro Group to small, innovative engineering companies.
The Centurion XP Dual is now being successfully used by Hardide to photograph materials being treated in a highly aggressive acid etch tank which is corrosive and would destroy a normal camera. It is also being used at the stripping tank, where explosive hydrogen gas is produced. The Centurion XP Dual can store hundreds of images which can be transferred via a high speed USB.

Mr Guse added: 'There is an extremely corrosive atmosphere in parts of our treatment processes as well as the potential for splashes. The CorDEX Centurion digital camera survived this and produced crystal clear images, which is great for our records and to inform customers about the treatment of their components. The macro-lens attachments and strobe flash were also useful for close up shots.'

Marcus Halliday, General Manager said:
'Taking photographs in hazardous areas is challenging for many organisations and the Centurion XP Dual was invented in direct response to feedback from industry. We are delighted that Hardide Coatings has chosen the Centurion XP Dual to help inform its customers of the processes it uses. The design is as simple to use as every-day digital models, but is built to withstand the most challenging work environments.'

One just needs to read the last results, and commentary, and it's clear this Co is doing everything right -- and a great product. On an upward trajectory.

Traction in US (where it's only just begun, I believe) should provide nice momentum.

imo.

Short answer – I have no idea.
Loads of waffle and nothing really informative and perhaps not even correct – see below :-)

I have been here a long time but that's about it. My break even is 4p. That means a rough market cap of 33.6 million (800 million odd shares in issue). Going to be here a lot longer I think. ( My rough workings are market cap = profit x 20 [naked trader rough guide lines] so profit would have to be 1.36 million. Well that ain't going to be for some time imo. even x 30 then profit would have to be 1.12 million. My very very rough reckoning would be 8 million turnover, which I think is roughly the capacity of Bichester, to generate such profits. (2 mill turnover = just a bit of profit --- 4 mill perhaps 500k profit)
- People, please correct me if any of the above is wrong, it is only my very very rough reckoning.
I averaged down from 9p! Bought some at 0.35p and some at 0.5p. Now run out of spare cash.

The rise today I thought was due to the 500K trade. I did a dummy trade yesterday for 100k and computer said no so thought not many shares about. Hence the 500K trade doing the job. Looked this evening and there is a 2 million trade there so think that did the job. People were still buying at the top so price may stay up a while. who knows though. Where did all those 22 million or so shares go that were sold a couple of months ago?

Interesting stuff to read on the 3 eye eye eye board (lots of song writing going on!). I like the one about perhaps having to open Houston to give the airlines better chance of getting their parts if Bichester stops producing for whatever reason. Very important that I think. That's if we get some hard chrome replacement parts to coat. Apparently it's going very well.

All I can throw in the ring is gut feeling and what Hardide have been telling us (the website news is suddenly a lot more packed out with newspaper cuttings etc). It feels like things are eventually beginning to happen. It perhaps needed this time from coming to market to get to this point where things are coming together, the recession didn't help but has given them time to get rid of waste, fine tune the processes and way of thinking, to make a better Hardide.
A new product like Hardide for customers, taking on similar products that have been round for ages, must be approached by them with some degree of caution. How do they know it does what it says on the tin! A lot of testing has been going on and I hope now that they can say to new customer that they don't need to do the same kind of testing cause it's been done already so just give us your components and you can have them back, coated. (Think I'm trying to hide a negative)
Stuff like, customers can make better designed items due to the Hardide product means to me that this is some coating. Forward looking – the coating to hold diamonds more secure. Where this will be used I'm not sure. Will have to wait and see what they say.
Glad they feel they are in a position to get the word out about Hardide through conferences and new sales people.

Please DYOR and its IMO.

Regards
RRJ
