23/11/2012 17:07 | Pleased its gone thru, may leave 1m in for interest. Golds just rocketed I see. | dofmeister
23/11/2012 16:55 | Indeed, Chip, as I think you and I both expected and hoped for. It's going to be pretty bumpy, but if a bunch of hard-headed locals cannot make some money out of this dog, I do not know who can....and there is a realistic chance that they could drag us along with them. I don't know how soon they will realise that TD is a waste of space, but my suspicion is not that long! Have a great weekend PS Inferno.....I think any suspicion that you and I are one and the same person, presumably is now gone forever? | almost
23/11/2012 16:52 | Hopefully on the day we get cash for our 60% many will use this to buy back in causing the share price to spike towords 2p. The rest of us can then sell our remaining 40% at a good price, before the inevitable slump. | 1nf3rn0
23/11/2012 16:50 | nuts THE OFFER HAS BEEN DECLARED UNCONDITIONAL that's it it's over | phillis
23/11/2012 16:47 | Director holdings are just one part of an investment package that may need considering. But it would indeed be foolhardy (IMO) to put too much emphasis on that rather than other (far more important) issues. | chipperfrd
23/11/2012 16:44 | chestnuts They already have enough acceptances! See RNS. | chipperfrd
23/11/2012 16:43 | 1nf3rn0 - I'm trying not to laugh at a vision of Mr Buffet handing his clubcard over at the checkout buying his week's supply of CocaCola and counting his points! I suppose one could monitor Director Deals over a period of time and see what the trend is. Trouble is you might find you have "made" a virtual million and that could be just as distressing! Might give it a try though. | timgw
23/11/2012 16:40 | AAAR You say you have bought some against some of those that you tendered , what happens if the deal doesnt go through. | chestnuts
23/11/2012 16:33 | Petwood, I'm surprised you received nothing from HL - because I did in writing, for each account and via email! If in doubt always check their Corporate Actions tab on their website. You can then drill down to a box which allows you to tell them your preferences. Chip | chipperfrd
23/11/2012 16:19 | Tim. It'd be interesting to see data on the success rates of investors that buy into a share purely on the basis of a bigger investor giving a big show of confidence. Another example off the top of my head which didn't work out too well (to date anyway) is those that followed W Buffet into tesco (the share not the shop). | 1nf3rn0
23/11/2012 16:00 | Yes shano2 -bought a few back via IG against those tendered | aaaaar
23/11/2012 15:35 | 1nf3rn0 - I see your point entirely and your comments are perfectly valid. I bought a few PGL after a placing and further price drop and it still went down further. I have tried to make a detached decision and will not whinge if it goes wrong. My favorite investment book is "The Zurich Axioms" - those that take risks may or may not end up better of than the belt and braces investor but they have more fun along the way!! | timgw
23/11/2012 15:32 | African Resources' Hambledon offer 'unconditional' | shano2
23/11/2012 15:02 | I'm with HL, who made no contact, but in any case like Chip I'm hanging on to see what happens. Came aboard in May 2006 at 18p! Since averaged down to around 5p. | petwood
23/11/2012 14:40 | Anyone hold with HSBC nominee's? I only have a few shares, £700 worth, and deadline has past, anyone know HSBC's default if you fail to indicate which corporate action you elect? Silly me eh! | mozy123
23/11/2012 14:21 | sorry chaps, changed my mind this week and took the offer for my 500K. At 2p I am break even. Although it is a low bid I dont really fancy being on the receiving end of a rogering by the new owners ! | frogkid
23/11/2012 13:29 | Tim" Second, because the "concert party" has a rather bigger stake than I have and has no intention of making a future loss!"Not sure how often that logic works. I have shares in JPR bought fairly recently at under 6p. But someone much wealthier bought a huge chunk closer to a pound a share just a few years back. Anyone following him in at that time is sitting on a large paper loss. I don't expect it ever to get back to that level for a long time, if ever. Many were confident here a few years ago based on bridgen's holding. "he won't sell for less than 20p" was the sort of thing pi's said to justify their investment. Well, he sold at 1.8p. | 1nf3rn0
23/11/2012 13:07 | Will AR claim that there are now too many small shareholders with less than a marketable shareholding etc.? | p@
23/11/2012 13:03 | sloppyg - The choice was tender what you like but AR required 42% to add to the concert party's 9% for effective control. I think they just wanted to lean on PIs to get rid of them! | timgw
23/11/2012 12:15 | Is it not though a double edge sword in as much as backing a recovery wth AR on board will require PIs to tender all or a significant chunk of their stock. | sloppyg
23/11/2012 12:04 | The clock is ticking and the result should be known shortly. This is a busy discussion board and there have been many interesting opinions. I have been a holder for quite a while with an original purchase of 2.5p. I failed to take profits and now my average (with further past purchases) is currently 3p. I also bought a good few just days before the offer at 1.1p and have offered these to AR at a good profit to me this time. My "original" holding is still in play. It is very easy to say you hate HMB and everything about it but (so I am told!) successful investors don't let emotion get in the way of the right decision. Effectively therefore I am with the "hold" camp for two reasons. First is that the underlying value of the company is more than 2p. Second, because the "concert party" has a rather bigger stake than I have and has no intention of making a future loss! I reckon that my odds are more to gain than lose so fingers crossed. There is of course also the old saying that a long term investment is a short term one that went wrong!! | timgw
23/11/2012 09:39 | Cheers hedges_71. Good to know there are still a number of us backing a potential recovery here. Interesting to see how the offer went today. Chip | chipperfrd
22/11/2012 22:56 | I think it is becoming apparent that a number of PIs will either not tender anything, abstain or only offer 60%. Consequently the 50.1% to go unconditional remains a challenge. What price could these be picked up at if doesn't go through. Even a revised offer will probably provide a window to accumulate if so wish. Out completely for now but certainly one to watch. | sloppyg
22/11/2012 18:51 | chip i am staying in my average is 4p and thanks for youre positive posts | hedges_71
22/11/2012 17:38 | Its a good point that endorsing AR and HMB's future by not offering shares (or below 60%) puts the offer in potential jepordy. I'm afraid I've completeley sold out based on my own risk I'm prepared to take and focussing a little more on 'black gold'now. But I intend to continue to follow as i dont want to put all my accummulated knowledge to waste and i agree in general with Chips sentiment about untapped value - but that is true for many stocks and potentialy there is better elsewhere. (MML for instance) HMB may be a share to trade but only in small amounts ! Good luck all | vish65 |
