15/9/2017 16:41 | Holding up pretty well I'd say, not the usual free fall after a sparkler. The dividend might provide some support of course but I think there will be plenty keen to get onboard here now on fundamentals and the building story. | noujay
15/9/2017 16:07 | The news is great, and I have nothing but praise for the management. However, we have moved up from the 750p area to above 850p in short order. Therefore I find it prudent to take profits in the short term. If you like, I have also in effect taken my Divi early, as I can then decide whether to buy back in next Friday after the divi amount is deducted from the sp, Obviously that may be a risk. One man's divi is another's capital gain. | woodhawk
15/9/2017 16:07 | - duplicate - apologies.... | woodhawk
15/9/2017 15:16 | Industry consolidation also. | srpactive
15/9/2017 14:58 | I'll take stock over this at the weekend. I'd be inclined to take profits and wait for a further dip to buy in at. Happened at the last trading update, where I sold half my holding at 820p and arranged for some family members to take profits too. Got them to buy in around 750p which has worked well! It's been a great rise, But agree with Woodhawk, the good news is all out, there's nothing more to digest. When everyone is bullish it's time to take stock. Only thing that is stopping me is the dividend due soon! | diviincomesearch
15/9/2017 14:17 | How nice to read a happy friendly board. I arrived via Partygaming. I am very happy to be here too! And goodbye Norbert your name suggests to me you should be running a comic. | hubshank
15/9/2017 14:12 | Woodhawk Agree absolutely nothing goes up in a straight line, as we have seen over the past year with the stock stuck in the trading range of 650p - 750p, ignoring the peak above 800p and the low below 600p. Now we have seen an upward tick which in my view is long overdue, especially after the capital markets day in May, when I really thought we would see a good move north. It didn't happen and now with this latest trading update we are seeing the market catching up with events. AIMHO | mylands
15/9/2017 13:37 | mylands, I'm using commonly available tools - in my view it is over-bought. You should know by now that nothing goes up in a straight line. I am very confident in GVC, but am backing my judgement that the stock is currently overbought - just as I backed my judgement increasing to my largest ever holding around 750-760p as I posted at the time. I have learned not to be greedy and that slowly, slowly catchee monkey!! "correct me if I am wrong anyone, all the brokers are setting target prices way above the current 845p." Indeed - and quite rightly so, imo! But they're not expecting it to get there later today!!!! | woodhawk
15/9/2017 13:31 | Every time Norbert has sold the shares have gone up, so now is a good time to buy! I don't believe the shares are overbought, quite the opposite. With the market close to its alltime high it's good to be in a stock where, correct me if I am wrong anyone, all the brokers are setting target prices way above the current 845p. That's one hell of a vote of confidence in 'liitle' old GVC. | mylands
15/9/2017 13:11 | I did yes it's pretty interesting stuff and nobody ought to skip it | noujay
15/9/2017 12:59 | Suggest you listen to the presentation from yesterday Noujay as well if you already haven't, gives additional information and comment not contained in the results. | jeff h
15/9/2017 12:15 | You're right Festy - Norbert selling has always proved to be a great buy signal in the past. The share price does look rather overbought at present though - so might be preferable to dally? He only sold about 140K shares - netting him £1M or so at £8.31 - he should have waited a bit - he might have got another 20p per share!! | woodhawk
15/9/2017 12:14 | Thanks Jeff. I like the final sentence about further specials. In fact I like pretty much all of it | noujay

15/9/2017 11:22 | Norbert selling up, good... lets have him gone, it's a good BUY signal if you ask me! | festario
15/9/2017 11:12 | Apart from you Guru! | festario
15/9/2017 11:08 | The thing with GVC back then was that the yield was so high that most investors regarded it as unsustainable and avoided the stock like the plague. | investmentguru
15/9/2017 09:02 | Mylands Go back and read posts 2014 and 2015, it made me chuckle. | srpactive
15/9/2017 08:58 | Yes, they were, but still are when you consider the capital gains and for those purchases around a quid we are yielding the princely amount of 30%. Even those purchases up to 300p are yielding 10%. | mylands
15/9/2017 08:54 | Those were the days mylands, I remember we had a 43p special around the time we were buying at 79 - 100p. | srpactive
15/9/2017 08:51 | Woodhawk It was always the yield that kept me invested in GVC and then came the step-change when Kenny came on board from Sportingbet. I thought one of the first things he would do was to slash the div to conserve cash, as most new ceo's will do when they takeover, but he did the opposite, increasing the payouts. From then on it's been a one-way very profitable ride. | mylands
15/9/2017 08:44 | Full marks for perseverance, mylands! | woodhawk
15/9/2017 08:23 | Festario Checked back on this thread and my first posting was No.436 on Dec 7 2005. Unfortunately for me I had just paid 364p for my first holding of 5,000 shares and the shares over the next year fell to 75p! In 2006 they paid out 34p in divs, producing a yield of 45% on the lowest price I paid!! Since then, apart from the div 'holiday' when they acquired bwin, they have never missed a div payment. I have just noticed that the total div/share since 2006 has been 367p, so my initial purchase has made a 3p capital gain over 12 years. | mylands
15/9/2017 07:23 | He brought me in Plasbryn, and a couple of others. 2010. | festario
15/9/2017 06:44 | Is it partly due to the Guru that we are all here? Was he one of the early advocates? My memory has dimmed with the passage of time! | plasybryn |
