04/5/2017 15:54 | timanglin, Yes I agree the MGM deal is very interesting for a number of reasons including the ones you outline. Personally I think if we give GVC 5-10 years, the management here could build something really big. I just hope they don't sell out before that happens and all the growth goes to the buyer and not us. The share price should respond to the upcoming trading statement - medium term nothing to worry about, o not worried at all about short term fluctuations. srp - I would be very surprised if MGM were dim enough to buy WMH - there are many reasons why they shouldn't. According to my wife I have been wrong many, many times though. CM. | cheshiremoggie
04/5/2017 15:27 | A deal with Trump casinos would have been better :o) | nurdin
04/5/2017 15:26 | Do you think it could be mgm getting gvc in place before mgm buy wmh? | srpactive
04/5/2017 15:24 | CM, I agree with your clarity. Strategically up to now one of the main industry drivers has been on line gambling consolidation. There has been some connection between on line and physical sites. However the MGM deal potentially moves GVC into 2 new strategic directions USA and partnering with a partner that has huge physical(bricks and mortar)presence. These are directions that local competition(e.g. Ptec and888) does not have. I agree that today the us news does little to improve the bottom line, however for me, this is the biggest 'strategic' news since the us pulled the plug on online gaming and caused the share price to drop 75 percent even though at the time gvc did not trade in the us, the opposite news causes a 10p share drop!! | timanglin
04/5/2017 13:43 | Could it be a chance for gvc to sell the partypoker brand to them and still be involved in running it? | srpactive
04/5/2017 13:36 | In fact.... I think I'll buy a few off him... seems rude not to. | festario
04/5/2017 13:29 | There's a heavy block seller (again), this time at 740pWe just need to clear him, and move up sharply. | festario
04/5/2017 12:58 | I imagine that all of the GVC white label poker and their own brand actually play the same games on the same tables - its just the front end that is branded differently. Thus the 3 initial MGM players don't just see one table with 3 players on it, they think there are loads of people playing. That still doesn't mean that there won't be some brand cannibalism. Without more info its difficult to know more. CM | cheshiremoggie
04/5/2017 12:52 | Interesting point... | cheshiremoggie
04/5/2017 12:50 | If GVC do a too good a job in presenting the MGM offerings, is there a possibility that there could be a some reduction in players on the Partypoker site? | popper joe
04/5/2017 12:20 | I think theres a bit too much excitement/paranoia over this MGM announcement. It seems to me that GVC shares were bought on the rumour and sold on the news. Simple insider trading as in most companies. Before this last run up to 750+ the share price was around where it is now or even a bit lower. The MGM announcement is a white label BtoB deal and is great. BUT, it doesn't necessarily mean that MGM will buy GVC. (some GVC employees have Apple iPhones but it doesn't mean a takeover by Apple is imminent...). As a white label product we don't actually know how much profit will come to GVC (i.e. what the terms are) and it doesn't necessarily advance the GVC brands in the US since I would have thought that GVC will be invisible to any players of the MGM product. The announcement is good news and MGM should have the marketing and the brand awareness to make it work well. Its just not a game changer in the US for GVC. Dyor. CM. | cheshiremoggie
04/5/2017 10:13 | The Cheltenham and Grand national results favoured the bookies. | welsheagle
04/5/2017 09:37 | Thanks Mylands, for me revenue growth is important however synergy savings as important this year. At least the previous debt payments have been reduced. With the us news there does seem to be a strategic potential area for growth. | timanglin
04/5/2017 09:29 | tim Yes, big news but it seems there are seller(s) around that are overhanging the market and drip feeding stock out. Disappointing numbers yesterday from Paddy Power Betfair and again today from LADS, both citing sports's results going against them. | mylands
04/5/2017 09:25 | Strategically the news wire is big news. MGM currently on a PE of ?19, ?18 billion us market cap. Can buy us, if they want, for small change. Dyor, imho. | timanglin
04/5/2017 08:59 | I may add if it falls to 7.30 | shayadfn
04/5/2017 08:41 | Same performance repeating itself again this morning, weakness on small volume. | mylands
04/5/2017 07:14 | For your info.... it wasn't an RNS. It was news wire from the U S. | alfie4048
03/5/2017 21:26 | Woodhawk Agreed! | mylands
03/5/2017 18:25 | I'm sure the share price will react appropriately in due course, Mylands. However, I'm always amazed by the apparent disregard for such positive news with this share. At the end of the day, the share price still hasn't surpassed the previous high of last year - despite a welter of positive news in the interim, the fact that the integration of BWIN has exceeded expectations & the recommencement of the dividends. A substantial rise in the share price is sorely overdue, imo. | woodhawk
03/5/2017 17:54 | Woodhawk Well spotted! You would have thought such an announcement would have been received better by the market than an 11p mark down! | mylands
03/5/2017 17:18 | The opening of markets in the US is certainly an interesting trend. Good to have a high quality partner too so a positive snippet really. | noujay
03/5/2017 16:19 | Now you will hopefully see the partypoker brand flourish in the US again, dyor. | srpactive
03/5/2017 15:51 | LAS VEGAS, May 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM), the world's leading entertainment company, and GVC Holdings PLC (LSE:GVC), the multinational sports betting and gaming group, are pleased to announce they have entered into an agreement to launch online casino and poker games in New Jersey under the playMGM brand. GVC currently provides software and support services for the MGM Resorts-owned Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in New Jersey and has powered Borgata's online casino and poker products since online gaming was regulated in the state in November 2013. Today's announcement marks a strengthening of the relationship between the companies and the first time that real-money online casino and poker will be offered under MGM's iconic brand. Launching later this year, playMGM casino and poker will sit on the latest version of GVC's proprietary technology stack, which offers desktop and mobile variants, over 300 casino games (including progressive jackpot slots) and multiple variants of tournament and cash play poker. In addition to its unique in-house developed content, GVC also integrates the best games from third-party suppliers. Earlier this year, games from NYX Gaming were incorporated into the Group's New Jersey platform, and further content from leading developers will be added throughout the year. playMGM customers are also set to benefit from MGM Resorts' exclusive M life Rewards program, which will be integrated into the GVC platform. M life Rewards is MGM Resorts International's premier rewards program, where members earn benefits for virtually every dollar spent at 15 world-renowned MGM Resorts destinations in the U.S. "We are delighted to extend our relationship with MGM Resorts and to be launching casino and poker under the playMGM brand in New Jersey," said GVC's Chief Operating Officer Shay Segev. "MGM Resorts is quite simply one of the biggest and best names in the business, and we look forward to working with them for many years to come." "This is a historic moment for MGM Resorts to be launching real money online casino and poker under the MGM brand for the first time," said Corey Sanders, Chief Operating Officer of MGM Resorts. "GVC has been a first-rate partner for us, and we are excited about the possibilities of extending that partnership as regulated markets open up in the U.S." | peterburn |
