Anyone any ideas as to what changed sentiment here about 12.30? With that dip below 600p now behind us onwards and upwards to next results we hope!

PS - congratulation on successfully holding onto a winner and staying along for the ride (many would have taken money off the table along the way and lost out on your considerable gains)

@ Festario - a very nice position to be in. But whether your cost was zero, minus 100p or 750p, the real question is at a current price of just under 600p, is this the best place to have a portion of your current wealth (regardless of how much higher / lower your wealth is today than a reference point in the past), based on risk / reward as of today?

I guess another way to read your argument would be management has a long and successful track record of delivering value to shareholders (with you being a big beneficiary), and hence you will continue to back them, which I completely agree with ...

Yes Graham, because the yield down that far is ludicrously high, and I have more funds to deploy should it fall further.Bear in mind Graham, I have nearly 70k of these from the days of 96p. My average works out at minus 114p.Yes, that's MINUS 114p, in other words I've had all the value back in dividends and profit, and then some. Can you see why I'm comfortable with this company?

Interesting turn of phrase:

"Regardless of where it goes from here, it's amazing value."

So...... IF it goes to 500p, then is it still amazing value today or (perhaps) even more amazing value then?!!

If anyone has level 2 thay might want to check out the order book. I am beginning to think there are some games akin to market manipulation going on with tiny sell oders driving the price down and a larger fill order acting as a stop on the upside. More sophisticated day traders might have a more objective view than me.

What the objective is and why with share now down nigh on 25% GVC make no comment I don't know.

The real issue with comparing the share price before & after the acquisition is not debt etc, it is that there are around four times as many shares in issue compared to back then.

Oh but the dividend is returning to 'regular'. It's only just come out of conditional, self imposed suspension. The dividend is not in doubt. Plus the dividend has been brought back earlier than previously advised and therefore classed as a special.

I agree the risk now for s multitude of reasons is just unacceptsble when comparing with the business of the past. Add this to massive debt and no regular divi and bingo you have a collapsing share price

Sobering to recall when the share price first hit over 500p - at Christmas 2014! (Even though it was a short lived foray above 500p).

. . . That was when GVC the business, was smaller, before the big acquisition, when it produced less revenue, had less online exposure (but less debt too) and here now, the price is only pence - PENCE not £'s, above that old 2014 high!!

If GVC does get any cheaper its going to become a target with William Hill at the top of a list of suitors. They are desperate for a deal and need to sort out their lack of exposure to digital and to expand n their limited international reach.

Pain? I'm not a recent holder to GVC so I'm still several £thousands in profit.

. . . You can't legitimately claim to be be in pain until your holding is worth significantly less than you paid for it, can you? Any size profit can never, ever, be viewed as pain.

. . . I'm down thousands in profit to that previously, yes - but only on paper.

. . . I'm lamenting the medium term damage to my investment. Longer term I'm still convinced it will recover.

. . . EDIT: As primarily a divi investor the "rules" are that capital gains are supposed to be of secondary importance as long as the high yield dividends continue. Being human it's only natural that many like myself find that "rule" is sometimes very hard to obey in its entirety.

Well that's it - busted! The most significant support level breached and gone, finally closing the day below 600 for the first time in this retrace. Nothing more to say except:

. . . Gutted!

. . . Like many others I too, am far too overweight in GVC stock to even contemplate adding. It's not even oversold ( but approaching the foothills of that area). Not a bullish trendline or indicator etc., in sight.

. . . Worse - the fat lady's on stage taking her revenge and belting out number after number.

Since approx 9:30am this morning the share price has remained stubbornly bottomed at the 593/594p area. In the last hour/half hour there appears to be "great indecision" (doji candkesticks). Feint forlorn chance that could mean closing a little higher than the 593/594p bottom, over the remaining hour inc after hours trading.

. . . Surprisingly small trades since mid morning keeping the share price at this bottom level. Volume likely to be less than average. If it rises in the final part of the day and can close at 598p I will personally be over the moon. But in truth it appears "obvious" it will close well below that. Even then the 600p old support point may for a time, prove like a gravity pull and keep the bears in orbit from trying to break further down.

. . . Need to be free of the XD shackles and get well into February before the share price has a fighting chance.

. . . . EDIT: Since posting, minutes later the volume came up real fast and with it a small increase in the share price

. . . Keep the fat lady off the stage - don't let her sing just yet.

@ mnomis - You're wasting your time. SSW hasn't posted a single piece of actual information since he started posting, and he's not going to start now. All you'll get is endless references to a report that's coming soon (TM), how shady GVC are, and how buying BPTY opened up a can of worms. Oh and Wonga. Don't forget about Wonga. Since the fortunes and reputation of Wonga and GVC are irrevocably linked at this point (which was certainly news to me, but there you go).
