Not sure I follow this, speedsgh.
So which scenario is reflected in the share price and did GVC expect to have to pay £700m as part of the takeover?

Timing is everything on GVC’s £700m rights -

In “GVC: roulette spin” ( Lombard, August 31), your columnist questioned whether it was “morally right” for GVC not to pay the £700m contingent value rights while taking two more years of fixed-odds betting terminal revenues. That will be a matter for the UK parliament to decide. If parliament approves the measure before midnight on 27 March 2019, GVC will pay nothing. A minute later, it owes the full £700m. So Lombard was not right to assert that Ladbrokes shareholders “were never in line for £700m”. They were and they are.

In this matter timing is everything. Expect an entertaining autumn in Westminster as the stakes become clearer.

There's some comment from Tracey Crouch re FOTB limits and the timeline - is it possible that the CVR value could be reinstated? I can't really remember the exact details, ie if it was on the general announcement or whether the timing of implementation affected it.Any comments welcome but Tracey Crouch was speaking about it yesterday I think so might have made a few think?

The results will likely feature a write down for the Lads shops so presumably that will take the headlines?That said something re NJ as well as confirmation of strong current performance should negate that.Hard to say but I think it may drift to October update and then kick on from there. GLA

My thoughts are now turning to considering shorting this stock ahead of the results as a Bear Market is now imminent with the trapdoor about to open on the DOW

Volume low at 0.5m shares but a persistent trickle down totalling 2% today.
Topup time approaching? Not quite prepared to dust of the buy button yet as
we still have four days before interims next Friday. Thoughts?

Yes, but when the market turns down virtually nothing is immune. Good results next week are now even more importan, anything less will not have a favourable reaction.

Mylands, I thought GVC would have been immune from the ftse downturn. But it seems not.The vast majority of earnings outside the U.K., even outside the EU, would normally insulate a company.

Footsie now down over 600pts from its May high of 7862, a fall of nearly 8% in 4 months. Not surprising we are tracking back down with it.

The first article in business section about Playtech , the same Times (page 37 top ) , they say that the hedge fund manager Jason Ader from SpringOwl helped to drive Bwin.party into the hands of gvc.

Bookmaker denies pension ‘diddle’ -

GVC Holdings has dismissed claims by pensions campaigners that the terms of its recent takeover of Ladbrokes Coral Group amounted to a “great pension robbery”.

According to the National Pensioners Convention (NPC), a union-backed organisation, the FTSE 100 gambling operator is trying to “diddle” pensioners out of £700 million due from the acquisition of Ladbrokes Coral...

The latest share options are good news. Spread over three years with increasing exercise prices:

The Share Options may be exercised provided that the Company's average share price in the 30 days prior to exercise is not less than 183p prior to Vesting Period 1 exercise, 213p prior to Vesting Period 2 exercise and 244p prior to Vesting Period 3 exercise.

I would hope write downs will be minimal given the way the LADS deal was structured and the average 3 year shop lease (at the time of the acquisition).

Short positions very small now and I would expect this to pop on results but at the same time unsure what sort of write down might come with it and how the market will react to that. It's a fools errand to predict anything of course, but seems not unreasonable to expect results to be met with muted reaction but then for the October TU to put some lead in the pencil and start driving share price again.

So why is the share price so hesitant ahead of the results ?

GVC Holdings rallied after Morgan Stanley initiated coverage of the stock at 'overweight'. It said cross-selling, mobile catch-up and greater geographic diversification will keep growth above peers.
