Some politician might be envious that business which operated in illegal markets took over the old brand existing on High Streets for decades. But if the business was illegal in Turkey or wherever , that is the matter of policing in those countries .

T34. I reported on the stories circulating in the US a while ago. This is IMHO the biggest reason for the otherwise surprising downturn in share price US regulators will IMHO take a dim view of the practise of disguising the real nature of the business being conducted. Especially when that activity is illegal, make the act of moving money potentially count as money laundering. A big No no for regulators.
GVC are of course out of Turkey and some of these other markets these days, but I'd expect that Jim Humberstone is a worried man if he has not already been fired.

Sunday Times the business section , page 3 , ' Deputy Labour leader Tom Watson has criticized GVC for historic practises of disguising payments from illegal markets'.

Being based in the Isle of Man, GVC are not an EU based company as the IOM is not in the EU and is why the IOM did not take part in the Brexit vote like Gibraltar did.

In case of hard Brexit . How it would affect gvc ??? Does gvc need to look for passporting to sell business in EU as the financial services companies do ??

PTEC results (excluding Asia) are still strong so I would expect similar if not better trends although the LADs issue complicates matters

Did someone say that the GVC / MGM partnership would take a year or 2 to generate revenue?

Scott Butera, MGM Resorts International president of interactive gaming, said that through a partnership with GVC Holdings PLC, mobile betting operations in New Jersey will be delivered on a "best-in-class mobile platform that positions us as a leader in technology, accessibility and sports betting expertise."

"We look forward to building on our success in New Jersey and expanding our sports betting offerings as the national leader in sports betting," Butera said.

The first bet on the mobile app was a $50 wager placed at 12:07 p.m. on the Philadelphia Eagles to win their first game, a spokesperson for Borgata said.

The share price is back to where it was pre MGM RNS - so market seems to have discounted any near term value from the deal.

The RNS last night about Black Rock reducing their holding by 0.76% to below 5% may be one of the reasons the share price has been under pressure. If they have been drip feeding the stock in to the market that would not help the price.

Another shorter out today positions over 0.5% now down to 1.33% lets hope that gives us a boost.

The short positions of over 0.5% total 2.07%, the same as on August 8th, the last time I checked.

Thanks Noujay, because when GVC last got shorted down to 590p, it was painful, but the spring back up was swift and profitable.I'll keep an eagle eye on this, I wouldn't want to miss a bounce if it does get dragged down to silly levels.

Yes that maybe so but the joint venture with MGM is so significant imo that it should have kept the share price on its upward trajectory or at least kept the price steady after the news.Chart trends in such special situations can easily be broken imo but then I am no expert.

I do not think it's anything to do with a 'Tree Shake' more to do with just taking some profits off the table.

The chart shows that the fall is in line with the 2017/18 trend. It hasn't broken below that.

Plenty of informed analysis on the company and its excellent prospects - although watching the share price at the moment a touch frustrating. Yes it's moved up over a three month period but it feels like there's a significant move to go but it's just not quite ready to go
