08/6/2018 11:24 | nod - I assume any shops that change to being adult gaming centres will be similar to the ones one sees at motorway services or onboard ferries. I do not usually do this, however as a pure guess, in 5 years time I think at most we will see 500 Lads/Coral betting shops close and with a further handful turned in to ADCs. | loganair
08/6/2018 10:57 | Thanks Logan. Is adult gaming centres the future for the GVC shop chain? Would it include online gaming? Including casinos perhaps? And warm beer. | nod
08/6/2018 09:43 | Out of interest, are the spikes up taking out the shorts? Just as a spike down may take out those with stop losses. | timanglin
08/6/2018 08:28 | Nod - Agreed, however it seems to me only reasonable that some retail shops will close. As I've posted before in my local town centre we have 1 Lads and 2 Corals with in 400yds of each other and 800yds up the road there is another Corals and therefore it seems reasonable to me that at least 1 of the town centre shops will be closed. Also I understand that 3 Lads/Corals shops have applied to their local council to change to become adult gaming centres and there is likey to be more. If they are anything like the ADCs at motorway service stations they do not have to me permanently manned and can be open 24 hours a day. | loganair

08/6/2018 00:38 | Logan, if GVC close their shops as leases expire they will not only lose FOBT revenue but bets taken over the counter. Did GVC buy LAD for the 100 year old brand or did it see a different future for the shops? There would also be redundancy payments. | nod
07/6/2018 23:11 | I understand that Hills will be hardest hit as they make the highest profit per FBOT machine. It seems to me that the betting companies have way over Sensationalised the reduction in profits they are going to make because of the reduction in the FBOT stakes to £2. The Lads/Corals retail shops are on only short term leases so it seems to me likely that any shops GVC may close they will do so when the shops lease has expired and will therefore be relatively simple, easy and cheap to close. | loganair
07/6/2018 22:44 | Not surprised but my feeling is that the big profits come from those that spin the large numbersWill be interesting to see how it plays outLADS could be the Ines left with others closing as GVC are canny but also have deep pocketsOr should GVC cut hard and fast and get rid of high street presence?Hard to know the best strategy | trentendboy
07/6/2018 17:30 | Trent - In away that is what I am saying, that the bookies put forward the worse case scenario which is highly unlikely to be the actual case. I was just reading a report of what FBOT and ex-FBOT players were saying. The current average wager per spin on FBOTs is already well under £10. Also for 2017 there had already been a dramatic drop in the number of £100 stakes on FOBTs. | loganair
07/6/2018 16:43 | Fest thinks profits will plummet and the idea of more play and others coming back is unlikelyTend to agree - damage will be severe. Maybe 10-20 percent better than worst cases the bookies put forward | trentendboy
07/6/2018 16:19 | Fest - For my better understanding, please explain your last comment. | loganair
07/6/2018 16:15 | That survey is the biggest pile of garbage I've ever heard. | festario
07/6/2018 16:14 | It seems to me that the bookies have over stated how much their profits will be down due to the reduction in the FBOT stake to £2. This reduction in stake will also impact FOBT behaviour. When asked an increase in FOBT players saying that they now will play more, 18% to 30%. And that they will also play different games or place more sports bets. There is also evidence amount lapsed FBOT players that once the stake has been reduced that a good number of them will start player the FBOT's again. | loganair

07/6/2018 14:26 | Taken from PTEC’s RNS: ‘Playtech plc ("Playtech" or the "Company") has held a stake of approximately 3.4% of GVC Holdings plc's ("GVC") issued share capital which it received as a result of its previous holding in Ladbrokes Coral Group plc (previously Ladbrokes plc’ How come, with a 3.4% stake in GVC, they have not been listed as having a declarable stake? Good to see that with last night’s closing price of 1035p, the shares were moved at a discount of only 25p. With the shares within a whisker of their all—time high it shows me how much demand there is is for the stock. | mylands
07/6/2018 13:56 | It is far better to have these shares with institutions than PTEC that is for sure | trentendboy
