What a nonsense, they didn't even own Sportingbet during the period. I expect GVC will win their appeal.

Just seen this RNS!

If the dire predictions were to be accurate then the deal with LCL would be stopped in its tracks, which I don't believe will happen.

LCL have based their recommendation on a GVC share price of about 950p. At 0.141 GVC shares plus 32.7p cash the LCL shareholders will receive 165p per share. Were the GVC price to fall substantially then I can't think that the directors of LCL would continue to recommend the offer. The board of GVC must have discussed this with LCL prior to releasing this statement. The fact that it has been released suggests to me that it is nowhere as bad as is being suggested.

Davros, unless it's a 'guaranteed ' stop.... it won't help you.Stops just get sliced through on News like this.

Agree completely Fest but presumably this won't run the full two year course in terms of settlement

From FT minutes ago:"This is a spurious and opportunistic claim made on the background of a Greek government desperate to pay its debts to the IMF," said a person close to the company's leadership. The person added the Greek tax claim will have no impact on completing its £4bn takeover of Ladbrokes Coral. GVC declined to comment further. Ladbrokes said: "We performed tax and regulatory due diligence on GVC's international operations, including use of third party advice. We remain confident in the views we formed at the time of the deal."

Something really stinks here.GVC total NGR per day, is around 1.5m.So, are they really saying that the first 5 days of each month we will be earning simply to offset a fine, in a small brand, in a relatively small country? For the next 2 years? If my maths is right, we should expect the share price to fall 20% on the open tomorrow. But, an over reaction could trigger a lot of institutional sells, (forced by their own internal rules).... and we could go into free fall.I thought that geographic diversification was meant to protect us from impacts such as this?I hear the fluttering wings of a black swan!

Sounds absurd to come to a figure that represents more than the total revenues over the period. Surely more likely it will be settled at a far lower price or even tossed out after appeal. Not a great end to the week obviously

Precisely, Nurdin. They are being taxed more, much more than they ever earned. But, in order to keep trading in Greece, GVC are depositing massive sums, monthly, to keep the authority sweet. What percentage of the GVC 2017 earnings will this year's £100m represent? Then we can calculate the likely (fair) share price fall.If it goes below that, it's buying time!

The tax claim is several multiples of the revenue SBT generated during the period,if I am reading it correctly

Bloody hell, £200m to be set aside in the 2017 accounts. That will either decimate or eradicate completely any chance of a divvy.
