So far your shares own 1.1% more of the company than they did before it started

It's the opposite of a placing, which dilute holders, it concentrates them instead.

No because it concentrates value

As GKP say: 'The sole purpose of the Buyback Programme is to reduce the capital of the Company'.

Does anyone find this odd?

That wasn't the company (which would be a AT), they were ordinary trades - I looked at that and thought mmmm..

If I already own 220,000,000 shares and buy a few million more while spiking the price I would be tickled pink.

Gaze, Well, you could annilate the price to scare peeps to sell, or you could get your hedge fund mates to go short , we have two shorters over the 0.5 threshold, how many are there under 0.5.
I am thinking the same, gkp have quite a lot of their buyback money which could be used in the week before the AGM.

If you want 2 m you buy them slowly slowly over weeks so as not to spike the SP

Gaz, exactly correct. I mentioned this recently but it takes more effort. That however is how the enemy drops the share price

Problem with " Buybacks" is they do not perform same as those holding share price down, they buy in big chunks and do not affect share price in same manner - as share price is based on last trade not biggest. Takes more effort to buy small lots and control share price With DMA it should not matter the size of trade.
Just easier to buy chunks. Also if serious wait till end of trading.

Would they not be better buying back more pee day and pushing the price up? Rather than 125 all the time?

Apart from Baghdad being Bagdad, f knows what is going on. Big forces at play here, Russia, Iran, China and USA in the melting pot and krg are the piggies in the middle.
