Extremely cheap merger on the horizon?

Wouldn't that be a great way to hide all the "issues" that don't get mentioned?

Just a mull:-)

It does not surprise me at all GC. Any positive news is always sold into to drive the share price down. Happy with that in some ways as it stops the traders jumping in for a fast buck.

Here's hoping, but I fear that the new Iraqi Prime Minister, Al Sudani, is regarded by many commentators as Malaki's man.

"Mohammed Shiya Sudani is not a guy you hear strong opinions about, and when you meet him, you also don't get a strong read. He's pleasant, there's no doubt, until now at least. He could be his own man, but let's face it, the odds are long against it".

"Al-Sudani: combatting corruption is a priority."

In that case his first priority needs to be getting rid of this creep. If he doesn't fire him then we'll know he isn't serious about tackling corruption and improving relations with the Kurds, or anything else for that matter and is just another Iranian stooge:-

Iraq’s Oil Minister and Acting Minister of Finance, Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail.

"Ismail is also “suspected of widescale corruption” by accepting “bribes for the award of contracts and oil operations in Iraq,” the Congressmen wrote.

A court in Iraq, the al-Karkh Investigation court, has charged Ismail with 29 corruption cases, they said, while “he is also suspected of accepting bribes from the IRGC Quds Force (IRGC-QF) and international oil companies."

"[Ismail] has been instrumental in leading Iraq’s Oil Ministry and its sub-entities to implement Iraq’s Federal Supreme Court decision which was directed by the IRGC-Quds Force to dismantle the Kurdistan Region’s oil exports, and thereby its economy and ability to serve as a bulwark to Iranian regional terrorism”

All very positive but surprised by the lack of share price reaction. I guess peeps want to see actual changes rather than just words and we've had plenty of words over the years. Hopefully this lot can deliver and turn words into a better Iraq and in turn a better share value ;)

Shafaq News / Iraq's Prime Minister-designate, Mohammed Shiya'a al-Sudani, said on Thursday that it is time to restore the state prestige and put an end to the spreading chaos.

Al-Sudani's remarks came during a speech he delivered following his designation as a new Prime Minister of Iraq.

"It is an honor to hold such a great responsibility, serving the people, performing our duties, and paying Iraq and its people's debt."

The new Prime Minister expressed readiness to cooperate with all political parties, adding, "We will not allow exclusion and marginalization. Disagreements created gaps inside state institutions, and made Iraqis miss out on many development and construction opportunities."

He said, "I announce full readiness to start a serious dialogue and a new chapter to serve our people and end its suffering", pledging to put all efforts to form a strong government."

Al-Sudani pointed out that his mission has started since the first hours of his appointment, and will be based on a clear government plan that includes economic reforms that enhance the agricultural and environmental sectors.

"Combatting corruption will be a priority", the new Prime Minister said, noting that the government work will work to address the pending differences between Baghdad and Erbil based on the Iraqi constitution.

He reiterated his will to prepare for a parliamentary election according to a transparent, just electoral law.

The new Prime Minister addressed neighboring countries saying, "Our message is a cooperation, understanding, and coordination message, based on a patriotic independent perspective that respects mutual interests and sovereignty."

"We have great challenges and concerns, but also a great determination. We will fulfill our responsibilities with a sincere patriotic spirit and clean hands", he concluded.

The new President has tasked Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani with taking on the roll of Prime Minister and forming the next government.

Apparently al-Sudani has said that "the policies that have managed relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad have been unhealthy, and that we must fix this situation so that we can bring back stability to Iraq", and "has previously criticized former Iraqi governments for the way they have handled relations with the Kurdistan Region."

Sounds promising so let's hope that things improve.
