Goldman Sachs Latest

Equipped with high cash reserves and low financing costs, companies have been on a record-breaking M&A spree for months now, and according to Goldman Sachs’ co-heads of global M&A, they show no signs of slowing down. “Clients believe we are entering—and we are in—a period of sustained above-trend global growth and want to take advantage of that,” explains co-head Mark Sorrell in the latest episode of Exchanges at Goldman Sachs. “Many clients have taken cost out, repaired balance sheets, done a lot of self-help and focused on organic growth.” His fellow co-head Stephan Feldgoise adds that a lot of the activity is concentrated among companies in the $500 million to $10 billion range. “That's been the engine room of M&A throughout this boom; I expect that to continue,” he says. “That's also prime striking ground for private equity, and it's prime striking ground for SPACs. It's prime striking ground for large corporates that want…[to add to or strengthen] their existing business.”

All sorts of problems with EV's that Boris is kicking down the road - as always.

(1) We dont generate enough electrical power in the UK for the planned future

(2) Even if we did, the power (National) grid cannot cope with the load.

(3) Current planned charging points cant cope with the electrical load required for
fast charging.

(4) No one is prepared to explain how we (cannot) recycle toxic lithium batteries

(5) Manufactures wont tell you , that you may only get 3-5 years out of a £10k battery pack

(6) How does the treasury recover the £36 billion it will lose from Fuel Duty ?

So its BS as always , designed to kid voters that any of this is actually going to happen - because it aint. Politicians may be gullible enough to believe all this cr*p but voters are not.

I can see that going down like a lead balloon. EV's are already miles too expensive to create a mass changeover from fossil fuelled vehicles. Slap another tax on top and they might as well not build them in the first place. Much greener to walk or pedal. Let's see if they can sell that to the masses.
