The Iraqi Trade Bank announced, on Tuesday, the signing of the financing line agreement to import Saudi goods and services with the Saudi Fund for Development in Riyadh.

The bank said in a statement received by Al-Iqtisad News that the agreement was signed during the official visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, and his accompanying delegation recently to the Kingdom.

He added that the signing of this agreement came within a set of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the Iraqi and Saudi sides in various fields, including a joint agreement for cooperation in the field of development planning for economic diversification and private sector development, as well as an agreement to prevent double taxation between the Iraqi and Saudi sides, and a commercial agreement in financing Saudi exports.

He explained that a working mechanism, conditions and controls will be published to benefit from the benefits of signing the financing line agreement to import Saudi goods and services that the bank signed to support Iraqi and Saudi companies soon.

The Governor of the Central Bank, Mustafa Ghaleb, discussed with the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jeanine Hennes Plasschaert, the financial and economic conditions in Iraq.

A press release issued by the Central Bank, received by "Al-Ektissad News", said, "Today, Tuesday, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb, received the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jenin Hennis Blasshardt, and discussed during the meeting the financial and economic conditions that Iraq is going through and the measures that lead to it. The management of this bank is part of the reform plan for the Iraqi banking sector . "

For her part, the United Nations representative, Mrs. Blashart, affirmed support for the independence of the Central Bank of Iraq, like other international central banks, and its importance during the current and future period .

"Why emphasize the importance of “heavy crude,” since many activists like to claim heavy crude is inferior to light crude? That is a common misconception.

Heavy oil is neither better nor worse than light crude. They are distinct products that have similar, but not the same, markets.

Heavy oil refineries produce more gasoline/diesel/kerosene per barrel of heavy crude oil than the light refineries do per barrel of light crude oil. As a bonus, the complex heavy refineries produce a lot less waste petroleum coke per barrel, which also reduces their costs.

Having invested heavily, refinery owners will pay to get the heavy oil that optimizes their returns. This is why the light-heavy price differential has mostly disappeared in the last couple of years."

The Vadinar Refinery for example is now India's second largest single-location refinery, with an annual capacity of 20 million tonnes (405,000 barrels per day) and a complexity of 11.8, which also makes it among the world's most complex refineries.

The size and complexity of this refinery gives it the capability to process a much heavier crude diet. The share of ultra heavy crude, which currently constitute 20% of the crude basket, will go up to 60%; and as a result the overall share of heavy and ultra heavy crude will go up to 80% of the refinery's total crude basket.
