Sigh. Another bonehead.

Oil companies all over the world didn't get paid either because at $20/barrel the Brent price fell below the level of their oil's discount.

Most global oil reservoirs are medium to heavy and sour, whereas the most common benchmarks are light and sweet.

That means that most of the world's crude oil trades at a discount to the most common benchmarks such as Brent.

Shaikan crude for example trades at a $21 discount to Brent.

GKP told us that their breakeven point is just below $35/barrel Brent, and that's low.

That's because their lifting costs are so low at $3-4 per barrel.

If GKP's lifting costs were say $10-20 per barrel as in countries such as Kazakhstan, Russia, Nigeria, Equador, Venezuela, Oman, Iran and Algeria to name but a few, then their breakeven point would be some $40-50 per barrel.

At the current Brent price of circa. $38-39, Shaikan is making a profit whereas huge numbers of the world's fields aren't.

That's why GKP's lifting costs of $3-4 are so important and why Kurdish oilers will be in the sights of the majors.

Their low lifting costs contribute to a low breakeven price so they are more attractive.

And the lower Brent is, the more attractive they are.

Shafaq News / The United States of America revealed, on Monday, its position from the forthcoming talks between Baghdad and Erbil, to discuss the disputes between them.

It is expected that the delegation of Kurdistan Regional Government will visit Baghdad later this week, to launch a third round of talks; in an effort to reach a consensus on the outstanding differences between the two sides, especially the oil files and the region's share of the federal budget.

The media office of the American embassy told Shafaq news agency that, "We encourage the Iraqi government and Kurdistan Regional Government to enter into a constructive dialogue in order to reach solutions".

Discussions between the two sides focus on the oil files and the region's share of the federal budget, especially after the previous government headed by Adel Abdel-Mahdi decided to cut the salaries of the region's employees, last April.

The current government, headed by Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, released the salaries of employees for one month only, and mortgaged other payments to reach a final agreement with the region regarding the outstanding differences.

There are pending issues between the two sides since many years: disputed territories, oil wealth managing, the budget of Peshmerga forces and many more.

Shafaq News / The President of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masroor Barzani, announced on Monday that he is ready to visit Baghdad whenever the federal government expresses its willingness to reconcile the outstanding disagreement between them.

A statement of Kurdistan Regional Government, received Shafaq News agency, said that, "The head of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masroor Barzani, hosted today, Monday, the British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hickey. The meeting, also attended by the British Consul in Erbil, James Thornton, touched upon the ways to enhance the relationships between Kurdistan and the United Kingdom, and the mechanism of resolving the outstanding problems between Erbil and Baghdad".

The President of Kurdistan Regional Government highlighted the relations with the federal government, and said, "We support Mustafa Al-Kadhimi's government to resolve all outstanding problems, under the constitution".

Barzani stressed, "I am ready to visit Baghdad whenever the brothers in the federal government show their willingness to solve the contentious issues between us".

For his part, the British ambassador to Iraq expressed, "UK's readiness to assist Kurdistan's Regional Government and the federal government to reconcile, in order to resolve the outstanding problems based on the constitution".

Hickey said, "Both Iraq and Kurdistan Region are friends and allies of the United Kingdom; and we want to help them set their differences, especially at this difficult time".

Hey Paul, the takeover you've been pumping for five years, is it the original one or a newer one?

No progress, falling production, issues with the field, massive gas flaring problem to solve that will costs hundred's of $millions and with none of the Kozel numbers proved or even found why would anyone offer the silly money you bleat about?
