CNPC have been acting as the intermediary between the KRG and ICG since SUMMER 2018 (new to me). Due to the tensions in Iran, this has now meant that the Chinese have changed their order of strategy. Iraq and THEN Iran. IMO, this is the reason why we had the buyback come out of the blue, for the purpose of vesting options. The Chinese/CNPC are after Iran and Iraq’s oil for the purpose of their One Belt, One Road strategy. The end of GKP is now approaching IMO.

“China will have a direct route for its ‘One Belt, One Road’ project into Europe, via both Turkey and the FSU [Former Soviet Union] states and then Russia,” the Iraq source added.”

“The deal on the table for Baghdad, according to the Iraq source, is remarkably similar, centered initially on Chinese companies undertaking various projects in Iraq in exchange for China receiving at least 100,000 bpd of oil from Iraq. This amount, when added to the current amount being exported to China, would mean that around 30 percent of Iraq’s total oil production will be going to Beijing.”

“This ‘oil for construction’ deal was AGREED IN BROAD TERMS LAST SUMMER during a visit by Iraq’s Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to Beijing, with the purpose of expanding China’s then US$20 billion of investment in Iraq at that point, in addition to the US$30 billion or so in annual trade between the two countries. It also follows the signing in 2015 by Abdul Mahdi - who was then Oil Minister – of Iraq’s agreement to be part of the ‘One Belt, One Road’ initiative.”

I had a look over at another bb that has a stray cat and where a surrey scot hangs out.

It was just like the old days here. Posters salivating over the bank balance, the revenue to be generated from 55k a day and that all will be funded from cashflow.

I remember years ago when Kozel was banging on about achieving 150k a day by 2014 and the rampers here were saying when that happens "we can tell the city to pi$$ off". I warned them that Kozel's numbers didn't stack up and that it wouldn't happen. I was of course informed by many that I would be proved wrong in rather impolite terms. History has in fact proved me correct as it has done many times. We did of course get all the excuses and spin from the usual suspects however facts are facts.

As regards the bank balance I've said many times the company must keep a very healthy bank balance at all times to ensure they never get into the mess like before. As for the revenue to be generated by the 55k a day whatever the oil price its a long way off. It looks as though 55k a day will slip into the 3rdQ 2020 so the extra revenue is likely at least 12 months away. And only if they don't encounter any problems. Additional to that is the importance of the next well. It would appear that there are only a few people that understand the importance of this well and it's raison d'etre. Then there's the gas and falling pressure issues and how to fix. Then, will the gas project and injection work. Will the ESP's be installed.

As if that's not enough there's a small issue of who will call the tune re the Erbil/Baghdad negotiations on an Oil law (LOFL) and what they will want and how that could affect the producers. Could it alter the PSC? Would that alter the FDP. Then, will the region stay safe. Where will the oil price go. Heavy oil to lose value. Those are just the known unknowns. What about all the unknown unknowns? Just a Friday night mull managing expectations like.
