07/10/2019 22:22 | Let's have a little look at this post, eh. "Should the ..." "fighters in N. Syria might then..." "they could be welcomed..." "I cannot see that..." Conclusion: "This has negative implications every way you look at it." What is wrong with this picture, boys and girls? Broadford Bay 7 Oct '19 - 21:02 - 592334 of 592338 0 2 0 Should the US troop withdrawal come to pass, and the Turks invade and create their buffer zone, there will be negative consequences for Iraq and for Kurdistan oilies. The ca 25,000 imprisoned DAESH fighters in N. Syria might then be able to break free as their Kurdish jailers join the fight against the Turks to the North, and they would then spill over into Iraq where, bearing in mind the local discontent at the moment, they could be welcomed with open arms. The Iranians will ensure there are ways and means open to them. In the same vein, any Turkish success against the Syrian Kurds will have repercussions from the PKK- their brothers in arms over the border in Kurdistan. The PKK have bombed the Ceyhan pipeline many, many times over the years and I cannot see that sort of reaction being discontinued if the Turks brutally repress the Syrian Kurds. This has negative implications every way you look at it. | ![]() frenchybannedme | |
