Strange that they haven't got on with it then but keep announcing the plans. Where exactly are the "Pathways and hit the ground running" and why has there been no evidence of them? Does that not suggest there are issues that are still to be fixed nine months on? Problems with the asset, MNR, Mol, PSC, Baghdad to name but a few? Will the pumps and well be successful?

Then, isn't using the number of 70k very optimistic when nothing has been done in reaching 40k a day which according to the company won't be this year? Then there's a plan to reach 55k which will require a further 3/4 wells. Just how long do the ramptastic crew believe all that will take? Then there's all the unknowns.

Without a very cheap buy out or a major farm-in which would mean trading a vast amount of the asset shareholders are going to be waiting many years. But the troughers working for JF's "boring oil company" will have smiles.

That's the reality.

DNO gets $62m Kurdish crude oil payments


DNO ASA, the Norwegian oil and gas operator, has reported receipt of $62.19 million as payment for March 2018 crude oil deliveries to the export market from the Tawke license in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The funds will be shared by DNO and partner Genel Energy plc pro-rata to the companies' interests in the licence.

Separately, a payment of $5.58 million has been received net to DNO, representing three percent of gross Tawke license revenues during March, as provided for under last August's receivables settlement agreement with the Kurdistan Regional Government.

DNO operates and has a 75 per cent interest in the Tawke license, which contains the Tawke and Peshkabir fields. – TradeArabia News Service

The BP/BHP Billiton/Chevron “Mad Dog 2” offshore project provides, in my opinion, an interesting comparison with the GKP/MNR/MOL “Shaikan”; onshore project.

The planned peak production capacity at “Mad Dog 2” is 140,000 bopd. The project was approved in 2016, but the investment required to achieve that level of output increased dramatically to over $20 billion. In order to make the project more financially acceptable, the engineering approach has been changed. The current estimate is around $10 billion.

Achieving 70,000 bopd - half of the peak Mad Dog 2 production capacity - at Shaikan is reported by GKP to cost only a fraction of that sort of capital expenditure. And the Shaikan production costs per barrel are among the very lowest in the world. What’s more, the Shaikan Production Sharing Contract structure treats capital expenditure as a sort of “loan” to the Ministry of Natural Resources, which is then recovered from production revenue going forward.

Of course, Shaikan isn’t worth anything. Constructing the 750,000 bopd capacity 36-inch diameter run of the Atrush Feeder Pipeline from Shaikan Production Facility-2 to the main export pipeline at Kurdistan Pumping Station-2 was just someone “having a laugh”. Right? Er...wrong.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Tribal leaders from Basra on Wednesday joined the many voices praising the actions of a Kurdish man who lost his life trying to save an Iraqi woman who drowned while visiting the Kurdistan Region on Sunday.

Jabar Osman Said, 19, drowned in the Choman River in Erbil’s Balakayati area after he attempted to rescue Zahra Hashim, an Iraqi woman who came as a tourist from Baghdad to the Kurdistan Region, along with her family during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The family of Said had prepared a ceremony for officials and others who wished to pay their respects to the Kurdish youth who risked his life for a stranger.

“We thank this man for his selfless act,” expressed one of the tribal leaders to Kurdistan 24, offering his condolences to the family of Said and applauding the act, stating “this represents the values of the peoples of Kurdistan.”

In response to a question from Kurdistan 24, the leader affirmed his people’s appreciation for the “nondiscriminatory welcoming” of displaced persons from the southern regions of Iraq by the Kurdistan Region and described Masoud Barzani, the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), as a “compassionate man.”

Another man with the delegation hoped that the visit would send a message of national unity and paint a picture of a country free of bigotry and internal rivalries.

He deemed the Kurdish man’s effort to be “a humanitarian act” which he hoped would send a strong message to the “politicians who seek to divide us [the different ethnicities of Iraq].”

The Arab leaders endeavored to promote Iraqi unity saying “we must fight for coexistence” as “we are all brothers.”

The Kurdistan Region’s Tourism Committee honored the memory of Said on Monday by making him the “symbol of hospitality.”

Barzani, former Kurdistan Region President, called the incident “proof of the humanity of the Kurdish people and their readiness to sacrifice” themselves for the sake of their guests, a moment of pride for those looking to fight back prejudice which has plagued Iraq and its relationship with the semi-autonomous region.
