Wonder what Ghani means about the importance of the existing agreement.
Is he folding to the prices and contracts Kurdistan oilers get at present.
The only existing agreement I know is that Krg provide Baghdad with 400.k barrels per day.

Anyone?

I'm not an expert at all, but I THINK quotas are for export, if the IOC's sell oil to SOMO and it gets used for refining within Iraq, for use within the country, then I don't think it counts towards quota, also under the impression Iraq regards OPEC quotas as suggestions unless it suits otherwise. Happy to be corrected.

Shafaq News/ On Wednesday, Basrah crude oil climbed alongside a surge in global oil prices.
Basrah Heavy crude edged higher by $0.99 to $83.22, while Basrah Medium also rose by $0.99 to $86.07.
Globally, oil prices rose after industry data showed a bigger-than-expected draw in US crude stockpiles while the market monitored escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Indeed about 5.35 p per share.Imo this is a final dividend, and it's timing means LTH certainly won't be selling today, hence highly likely news tomorrow imo.The buyback execution program specifically states that they would carry on with the buyback even if the company entered a close period. Will that happen tomorrow?Lets seeOver 3m bucks still left and that could really drive this higher if they seriously started buying.

Kurdistan Hayyan Abdul Ghani Oil exports
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Oil Minister Hayyan Abdul Ghani on Tuesday told Kurdistan24 that they continue to negotiate with the Kurdistan Region and hope to resume oil exports shortly.

Abdul Ghani highlighted the importance of the existing agreement between the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) regarding oil exports through the Turkish Ceyhan Port. This agreement serves as the foundation for ongoing discussions aimed at resuming vital oil flows.

In addition to addressing oil exports, the Minister acknowledged Iraq's current reliance on gas imports from neighboring Iran. "Although Iraq buys gas from neighboring Iran, it needs more gas to generate electricity, so they will sign more contracts in the future," he said, indicating plans to secure additional energy resources.

While no specific date has been set for the resumption of oil exports, Abdul Ghani emphasized the continuous and collaborative communication between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region. He noted that there is ongoing dialogue with Kamal Mohammad, the acting Minister of Natural Resources for the KRG, underscoring the commitment to cooperation and information exchange.

This development marks a positive step towards enhancing Iraq's energy sector and strengthening the relationship between the Iraqi government and the KRG.

I would imagine that any agreement to open the pipeline would include stopping local sales at much reduced prices. In fact there would be no need to anyway.

Questions for the knowledgeable

• Do OPEC Quotas include production for in country (local sales)?
• Will SOMO oversee (control) local sales as well as export markets?
• If not, will there be a need for the Kurdish oilers to ramp up production to satisfy exports via the pipeline and local sales?

I cannot imagine that they will simply ignore local sales now that they have an established market.

• Does all the above mean that the Kurdish oilers will have two revenue streams in the future?

Final buying day before ex dividend day. So if you buy today you get 5p per share on July 19th/20th. If you bu tomorrow you don’t.

Let’s see if buying today will take us past 151 which is the major resistance holding us back.

There will be pressure from the US to open the pipeline and ease oil prices before the US election.

Dividend, continuing buyback and pipeline potentially opening, interesting days indeed!
