Consensus reached on nominating Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani for Iraqi Parliament Speaker

Shafaq News / A political source revealed that the Taqadum alliance and Al-Sadara bloc have declared Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani as their candidate for the presidency of the Iraqi Parliament.
Al-Mashhadani, 75 years old, previously served as the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives from 2006 to 2009.
The source told Shafaq News Agency that the nomination received support from Al-Halbousi, leading to the withdrawal of Talal Al-Zobaie, leaving Al-Mashhadani as the sole candidate to face Salem Al-Issawi.
Late on Sunday night, the parliamentary Al-Sadara bloc announced its alignment with the Taqadum alliance led by Mohammed Al-Halbousi, a decision aimed at fielding a candidate for the presidency of the Iraqi parliament.

Todays RNS has huge positive implications + it shows APIKUR negotiating from a position of total strength; individual oil Co's with sufficient balance sheet strength to tough it out until next September, if necessary, when the ITP expires.

So, it's incumbent on the ICG to do a deal that satisfies KRG and APIKUR, otherwise, this will become a waiting game with KRG/Turkey/APIKUR agreeing anew deal in 2024 and the ICG frozen out of KURD oil revenues.

On the flip side, ICG hold the whip hand on current KRG government salaries , absent KRG oil revenues, so something has to give in the next month or so.

Looks like 'players' are going to go hostile and they also know when the pipeline is opening back up.

Soon would be my guess.

Bermuda M +A is Wild West territory, anything goes.GKP not bound by UK takeover code , might have sought permission or not.I am interested particularly in the aggressiveness of this.$10m spend in a maximum of 6 weeks is chunky.

Thanks for that reminder of where it ended last time. I seem to remember that the company would try to go along with UK law but would not be bound by it.

Locally sold oil to sanction busters who remarket the oil elsewhere at current market prices. In other words crooks. Hopefully and probably state sanctioned crooks. So what does this mean? Well in the current environment the state is probably getting enormous revenues from this and all other production in their state. Do they have an incentive to resolve the sanctions in a reasonably short timescale? Would a larger organisation with a higher hurdle of compliance want to buy this asset in that environment?

Am not saying Muttley had a good rep. in the first place, but she certainly hasn't got any any now. TBH, it will be interesting to see how she tries to spin this.

Right, need to go and walk our "muttley" before the rains come. 'What, it rains on Jersey!?' Yup, it's not all beaches and cream teas ya know.

Looks like HOSTILE after all.Regds buyback no problem under Bermuda regs. Its UK takeover code that frowns on that ( unless you get their approval)And GKP only volunteer to abide by itNot bound by it..Definitely hostile in my opinion

Buyback makes sense at this low price. I am expecting a dividend when share price is higher. $98m cash, no debt. Happy days.

And there`s me thinking that under Bermudan Company Law buybacks are not allowed during takeover negotiations.

What say you?
