Because that very basic cross section is only used for illustrative purposes to give people an idea of what the interior of the reservoir looks like, it's not intended to go into detail, it doesn't even show ten of the wells. Put a load of technical detail on it and most people wouldn't understand it. That's not what it's for.

A cursory look at it tells me that it hasn't been updated in almost ten years.

Should someone like an analyst a potential suitor or an institution request to see detailed data then the company will decide if they "need to know" and will make that data available accordingly.

Jeez, it's hardly rocket science.

Dear oh Dear Sarah , clueless as always.

The liquid cement is injected into the Casing annular via a high pressure (Cement ) Pump , allowed to set , then pressure tested. If it fails the pressure test they reinject more cement and retest. Drilling starts when the cement holds pressure for an "X" amount of time.

Do you seriously believe ( and you apparently do) that drilling into a potential high pressure zone would be allowed if the cement leaked pressure and potentially gas at the drill floor ?

These people dont sell Landrover parts for a living FGS. They know what they are doing.

Sure Tony. Having already explained it twice to you in the last couple of weeks and you clearly failing to understand it I'm more than happy to cut and paste it as many times as you like.

So here it is for the third time:-

Shaikan-5 is an exploration well that was drilled during the exploration phase, it was not drilled as a production well.

So it's therefore quite possible or even probable that it's not optimally located for production purposes.

Which is unsurprising and perfectly normal as deciding where you want to put your production wells can't be done until after you've done the initial exploration work by drilling exploration wells like Sh-5, something that I think is pretty obvious.

So drilling exploration wells that can't then be used for production is not something that you need to fret over, if it CAN be used as a producer then that's a bonus, so just relax.

But having said that, what we do know about Sh-5 is that it's in a highly fractured location, that it's been in production for the 10 years since it was drilled and that two years ago the intention was to work it over and fit it with an ESP.

Shutting down old wells and drilling new ones is all perfectly normal and is to be expected in the course of any oilfield development.

So don't worry about Sh-5.

There you go Tony maybe you could make a note of the post number then you won't have to keep asking.

And after they found the water they kept on going, another 1,000 metres:-

And found more oil in the Triassic in the Kurra Chine A and Kurra Chine B formations.

"GKP says the findings indicate a continuous oil column in the Jurassic Barsarin, Sargelu, Alan and Mus formations and extending into the Butmah formation. And it is indicated that hydrocarbons are present in both the Kurre Chine-A and Kurre Chine-B formations."
"Shaikan-6 has cored oil 150 metres below what we previously assumed to be Jurassic oil/water contact level for Shaikan,” said chief operating officer John Gerstenlauer."
"Today’s results from Shaikan-6 well are among the most significant points of the update. The well has encountered oil at the deepest point in the field so far, below the depth originally prognosed as the Jurassic oil/water contact level."

Hence Richard Lowe saying this:-

"Shaikan's well no. 6, for example, was initially drilled at the far end of the field to test the "spill point of the structure" where the hydrocarbons reserve ends and water was expected, but when the drill got more than 3 kilometers deep, it actually found more oil."

And Adnan Samarrai:-

"Shaikan-6 was a very, very good well for us," said country manager Adnan Samarrai, "it is very promising."
