Baghdad / NINA /- Minister of Oil, Ahsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail, affirmed the keenness of the government and the ministry to develop the oil and gas sector and increase the volume of investments in clean and renewable energy projects in cooperation with specialized international companies.

And a ministry statement quoted Ismail during his participation in a video meeting with the American Chamber of Commerce in Houston, as saying
that: The ministry has set in its plans and priorities to provide the appropriate investment environment for international companies wishing to work in Iraq, especially in the sectors of gas, clean and renewable energy, infrastructure development and improving the environment.

Ismail indicated that: The meeting included representatives of American companies and the Ministries of Energy, Commerce, and the US State Department, as well as the Iraqi ambassador in Washington.

The Minister of Oil added that: The meeting comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and discussing cooperation mechanisms for current and future investment projects in the field of oil, gas, and clean and renewable energy./ End 3

Shafaq News / The President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih made a phone call to Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In the Phone conversation, President Salih congratulated the Chinese President on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party.

Conversation placed emphasis on the depth of the historical relations between the two countries, with focus on the need to broaden the horizon of their mutual cooperation in the economic, trade and industrial fields.

Talks also mentioned Chinese companies' role in rebuilding Iraq and their contributions in infrastructure, energy and oil sectors, in the ways that could better serve the interest of both peoples.

President Salih and President Xi Jinping agreed how important it was to strengthen cultural cooperation between the two countries, and it was asserted that a great number of fellowships could be awarded to the Iraqi at the Chinese Universities.

The Iraqi President hailed China's role in assisting Iraq to address the challenges presented by the coronavirus outbreak through sending vaccines and experts to help Iraqi health staff.

latest developments related-matters in the region were discussed at the phone conversation, and President Salih emphasized that action and coordination are needed to defuse crises in the region and calm tensions there. Secure, stable and sovereign Iraq is an anchor for regional security and stability, he said.

The reason they drill exploration wells at the flanks of the field to find the water is so that they don't put the production wells anywhere near them.

I don't know if you were around when they drilled SA2 and the reporting on that ???

They didn't want to release the results so they just kept saying they were still testing for almost a year lol.

From the man who drilled the hole:-

"When drilling mud, which is used to cool the drill bit and control pressure in the well, leaks into the rock formation sometimes there are 100 per cent losses where you can't get any of the drilling mud back up again Richard Lowe explains."

"It is extremely challenging" said Lowe, "but the rewards are quite good we find one billion barrels here, one billion barrels there. Shaikan's well no. 6, for example, was initially drilled at the far end of the field to test the "spill point of the structure" where the hydrocarbons reserve ends and water was expected, but when the drill got more than 3 kilometers deep, it actually found more oil."

"Shaikan-6 was a very, very good well for us," said country manager Adnan Samarrai, "it is very promising."

The company did not inform the market when SH6 hit water, did it? How many months (or was it years) did they keep that under wraps?


So far as I remember it was lost drilling fluid not produced water. So no need to "keep it under wraps" . Drilling fluid returns are fairly normal.
