08/2/2008 08:20 | I wonder how far this is going to fall- sub £10??? Doesn't look like it has much support - maybe the header on the thread needs to be changed - unfortunately I can't see this making any kind of recovery in share price over the next 12 - 18 months | simon8
07/2/2008 23:44 | thanks Sat, and Goodnight. | hubshank
07/2/2008 23:23 | Yeah - I've alerted ADVFN. Their INDU got stuck at 2004 hrs at -26. I can confirm DOW ended up 47 pts, but better than that, DOW futures are currently up 30 pts, but EVEN better than that, FTSE futures are up 45 pts! Hubs, My earlier remark about you getting your teeth stuck in merely implied you really do alot of research for these threads - a compliment my love! :-) Good luck for tomorrow to all sat | sat69
07/2/2008 23:20 | Great thread | barry pringle
07/2/2008 23:10 | jazza, you just made my night! thank you. Usp, the ex divi date is 13th Feb, so anybody that buys AFTER that date will not be entitled to the divi. You must continue to hold on the Record date to be entitled to the divi. Effectively the day they go down the list and see who is entitled. I would double check with GSK about the Record date though, because I have received divis having been on the ex divi date but not the record. | hubshank
07/2/2008 22:54 | Will the person who bought it today can get the divident next week. Anybody? | usp3989
07/2/2008 22:53 | i think you are right, usp3989. | hubshank
07/2/2008 22:52 | buy buy buy | usp3989
07/2/2008 22:52 | positive? on my screen they said they closed down! JH my entry point was £11.77ish would like to recoup some of that in the next week, which I do actually think we will do particularly with increased dividends up for grabs next week. | hubshank
07/2/2008 22:52 | it is a roaring buy at this price. This can come to 1050 but may be for a short time. Bloody this price is what was five years ago. Too cheap. Buy it tomorrow or you may miss the plane. You can n't get this this cheap again. | usp3989
07/2/2008 22:48 | Sometimes there is no logic in the markets, you just have to feel confident about your entry point, there's a lot of emotion involved. I'm pretty damn confident holding @ 1082p Should be a good bounce tomorrow as US markets closed quite postive. | john hampton
07/2/2008 22:39 | not sure how to take that Sat, but whatever the underlying message, I've taken it in good humour! Bloody stock market, drives me around the bend. You know somebody once told me that "shares DO go Up as well as down" think that person must have been delirious ! ho hum | hubshank
07/2/2008 19:45 | You do like getting your teeth stuck in Hubs! :-) | sat69
07/2/2008 18:50 | the whole FTSE is down by 2.6% so factor that in and its actually only down 5%. Good opportunity. Thoughts welcome | hubshank
07/2/2008 18:48 | I have been trying to run a comparison of other high div yielding stocks within the FTS100 Company Dividend yield Dividend cover EPS growth (prospective, %) Net gearing (%) Interest cover Cashflow ps / Earnings ps Market cap (£m) Price (p) Taylor Wimpey PLC 9.03 1.54 -30 18.6 7.19 0.21 1900.02 180 Persimmon PLC 7.63 2.44 -1.59 27.7 8.9 1.51 2194.07 731 Kingfisher PLC 7.09 1.21 7.24 28.95 6.61 1.66 3320.92 141.7 United Utilities PLC 6.69 1.13 0.12 144.84 3.15 1.26 6187.13 702.5 Yell Group PLC 6.19 2.05 16.77 254.61 2.4 1.08 2577.56 330 BT Group PLC 6.15 1.51 4.44 177.32 4.33 2.48 20935.8 262.75 Marks & Spencer Group PLC 5.54 1.79 1.52 92.02 9.81 1.71 7108.29 429.25 Wolseley PLC 5.1 1.77 -5.12 79.66 4.48 2.23 4555.26 688.5 REXAM PLC 5.01 1.65 25.45 102.41 8.2 1.48 2686.05 418 Pearson PLC 4.95 1.47 6.7 33.11 5 0.95 5375.33 665 GlaxoSmithKline PLC 4.75 1.75 -0.04 37.13 23.4 0.73 64311.99 1167 This hasn't taken account of todays events, howver you can see there is very little for the safe investor, so I think this is a rise. | hubshank
07/2/2008 18:32 | Hubs I've just finished reading through the results, and for the life of me I cannot see the reason for this plummet. Sure Avandia sales are well down, but there are very good positives; The huge phase III pipeline, the £5 billion buyback scheduled for 2008, and the 10% increase in the divi should underpin the share price in the medium term. As for tomorrow, as always, it could go either way, but any retrace from where we closed, and I'll certainly be back in! sat | sat69
07/2/2008 18:24 | what do you see for tomorrow then Sat based on the RSI and MACD? need some of your luck to rub off on me. In 5 years I see the RSI hasn't ever fallen below 20 | hubshank
07/2/2008 18:09 | Hubs, You're right, I've had a great start to the year, which is amazing considering all the doom about. Pity I can't say the same about 2007 - Probably lost more than I ever have in any one year. Nice to be able to recoup some money for a change! Eisler - Sorry mate, I called it wrong. Luckily for me I'm practically day trading GSK (and most other stocks) so I've managed to make money each time I have bought (including today!) sat | sat69
07/2/2008 17:46 | Sat, looks like you made the right choices with your investing decisions over the last few day. Well done. Chart tells me it will rise again tomorrow, not sure to what level though! and some decent buys went through after hours, but if all else fails ........... pray. | hubshank
07/2/2008 17:42 | hubshank...glaxo actually beat analysts forecasts this year but reduced next years earnings...they have the best pipeline in the industry....27 maturing soon poor at £14 perhaps but at £10.69? | taffee
07/2/2008 17:40 | I am looking at the Digital Look Broker consensus and for 2008 they have factored an EPS growth of only 4%. will be interesting to see what happens on the approach to record date. | hubshank
07/2/2008 17:39 | Hmmmm....remember this? Eisler - 23 Jan'08 - 21:59 - 217 of 342 edit When the share price starts with the digits 1 and 0, this will start to look interesting! Sat69 - 23 Jan'08 - 22:33 - 218 of 342 I don't think that'll ever happen Eisler. I'm certain will get a good rebound tomorrow. | eisler
07/2/2008 17:29 | that sucks, but still looks good for a bounce. Fortuantely also hold ISYS that did very well today! | hubshank
07/2/2008 17:11 | last time it hit £10 was in the nadir in march 2003 at which point it bounced to £13!....earnings were far less and there were more shares in issue | taffee |
