19/3/2021 08:52 | Britain has long resisted any form of domestic identity document. It's one of the issues that came up with EU membership. And yes, it does bring echoes of the jackbooted official barking "Papers!" or more accurately "Papiere!". | rose_by_another_name
19/3/2021 08:50 | I have always stressed that there will be many who are excluded on medical grounds. Perhaps yourself. That's fair enough and I would give you an excemption passport if backed by a Doctor. | amt
19/3/2021 08:48 | G5, it would be so bad if Rose given he was a proof reader just put a view out in a single post rather than drown the BB with link after link. But he doesn't. Clearly its his choice not to have the vaccine but to post misleading rubbish that may effect others choice is wrong. Try Jura Malt no ice as it bruises the malt with just a drop of spring water. A two thumb measure. It may not help you sleep but does go down well. Zoo | zooman
19/3/2021 08:46 | The Apiarist. So when you fly to another country and have to show your passport or when you are under 18 and have to prove your age to buy alcohol then your logical argument is that its turning the country into the regime you mention. That's highly offensive to go down that road of argument to all those who suffered at the time. | amt
19/3/2021 08:39 | AMT, he just gets his jollies from it. Posts drivel with the intent to mislead. You can see why Alan warns people about him so much. As for me I don't believe a single word he posts. He only posts the drivel on here because he's a coward and knows if he were to do it elsewhere he would be blocked. It speaks volumes. 19/3/2021 08:32 | amt what a lovely day last Friday was on here , now look at today I’d like to put rose phillis and Gailes in a large bag and chuck them off the end of Brighton pier just think how nice this board will be without them ,ha ha ha ,I've got the three of them on filter now watch them post messages on here to me when they know I can’t read them how sick is that ,lol! | alangriffbang
19/3/2021 08:31 | amt I was quite happy, along with the majority, to have the vaccine. However I am equally relaxed about others exercising their right not to participate in the programme. The calls for a vaccine passport are worrying. Being stopped by an official and asked to show ones papers whilst going about ones lawful business is reminiscent of a european regime that happily was defeated 75 years ago. | theapiarist
19/3/2021 08:28 | All efforts to "cancel" me on this forum have failed, to date. Your voice is of course welcome, but it is unrealistic to believe that it is determinative. | rose_by_another_name
19/3/2021 08:26 | If the vaccine is effective, take it, and you will not be "at risk" from others. If it isn't, you will be at risk regardless of others having had the vaccine. You are proposing discrimination on the grounds of exercise of personal choice, not any actual risk differential. | rose_by_another_name
19/3/2021 08:25 | Alan I have put Rose on filter. I have been a fool to get involved and waste so much pointless time corresponding as you warned. I feel I have done my bit though to warn others not to pay any attention to what he writes. I hope everyone else does the same and not give him the oxygen which he needs to survive on this board. Social media is addictive. | amt
19/3/2021 08:21 | gailes5 I stick by my choice of words. It is a no brainer. It is an individuals choice not to take it which except for medical reasons is obviously misguided but much worse has the impact on the rest of the population by putting others at risk and clogging up the NHS when they get ill. I have always stressed that there will be many who are excluded on medical grounds. Perhaps yourself. That's fair enough and I would give you an excemption passport if backed by a Doctor. | amt
19/3/2021 08:20 | A twenty year old mini would have no chance against a bus. | rose_by_another_name
19/3/2021 08:11 | Have been taking a mini for nearly 20 years Haven’t had COVID ( yet) neither have I been run over by a bus! | phillis
19/3/2021 08:05 | Amt I don’t think you can call it a no brainer. It is an individual’s choice. The vast majority will take it but some will not for their own reasons. | gailes5
19/3/2021 08:04 | Hi Alan, fortunately I didn't have to eat my hat yesterday but it was a close run thing lol. It was only a one day commitment so I am off the hook. I topped up my AFC shares at 48p this morning. | amt
19/3/2021 08:03 | If you would prefer to read the actual research report rather than a newspaper article about it, here is the link- Headline: "The use of aspirin for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease is associated with a lower likelihood of COVID-19 infection" | rose_by_another_name
19/3/2021 07:54 | Well Rose it won't be a problem for you not having a vaccine passport then. So no holidays either then. You have done it again with your aspirin report. Maybe some truth in but not scientifically proven, peer reviewed etc. Aspirin has a lot of bad side effects by the way. There are many therapies on the way but they have to go through the same rigorous scientific analysis as the vaccines before they can be used. They will not help reduce the spread of the virus though so vaccines are the way out of the pandemic, it's is a no brainer in every respect. | amt
19/3/2021 07:53 | Front page news! There he goes yet again. Railing about posts he doesn’t read.I don’t think he realizes what an idiot he appears. | gailes5
19/3/2021 07:43 | My Australian miner is up! | rose_by_another_name
19/3/2021 07:41 | AMT- I don't go to pubs, seldom to restaurants, and never go on holiday, so I don't see why a discriminatory "passport" would persuade me to accept a vaccine when the NHS themselves have told me it is entirely my choice whether to have it or not. You seem to be saying that people should be coerced by extra-legal means into giving up their right to choose their own health care treatment. | rose_by_another_name
19/3/2021 07:40 | morning amt ,you will never get rose to stop all this nonsense we’ve had years of this he is mentally ill ,I would pity him except I hate him so much, I’m usually a charitable person but not in this case, I agree wholeheartedly with zoo , when he posts against rose he always backs it up with evidence and very often proof, one thing I have learned is as soon as anybody here replies to anyone of his posts he’s off ! I’m on blood thinners so I can’t take aspirin ,in a lighter note I wonder if this will be the day that you eat your hat, ha ha ha ,zinc down and my Australian miner down a lot overnight so not good here today, good luck | alangriffbang
19/3/2021 07:36 | I don't think you read the article in the second link I posted, zoo. The headline of that one was: "One tablet of ASPIRIN a day can reduce your risk of catching Covid-19 by up to 29 per cent, study finds" (the tablet they refer to is a 75mg "baby" size) After which I posted that it was almost as effective as the vaccine is supposed to be. That would go for both prevention and reduction of risk of serious disease, when you combine the two studies. The vaccine has been said not to be entirely effective in stopping people catching covid, especially different variants, though there does not seem to be a firm percentage on that yet. New variants arriving all the time of course. Those who elect to be vaccinated might well wish to take a low daily dose of aspirin as well. So called "baby" aspirin is expensive compared to the normal size, so I just break the normal 300mg tablets into four pieces, giving a 75mg dose. I am not a doctor and this is not advice. You should consult a doctor before taking any medication. My oncologist is aware of all the medication and supplements that I take. | rose_by_another_name
19/3/2021 07:32 | I haven't read the vaccine posts but the decision making process is simple. Over 60, disabled, overweight, BAME have it. Otherwise don't. Would you recommend your healthy pregnant daughter to take it or keep taking exercise, zinc and vitamin D3? The latter is the only sensible advice. | beany5
19/3/2021 07:13 | gailes5 If you read Roses earlier posts which I wouldn't encourage he was trying to defend his position of not being prepared to take the vaccine because according to him the risks outweighed the benefits. The rest of us were simply pointing out that such an attitude based on a deliberately distorted view is selfish and antisocial. He was making it worse by posting anything he could find usually out of context that was negative about vaccines. That's dangerous and irresponsible. I get the impression he is at last beginning to recognise the error of his ways as everyday the overwhelming positive evidence on vaccines is reported. One benefit to me is that I have now reached the conclusion that vaccine passports are a good idea and I back Alan's view on this, not least because it will make people like Rose more likely to take the vaccine. Sometimes a bit of stick is required to get people to do their social duty and look after their fellow human beings. | amt |
