UP, We've seen a lot as well. its understandable given the police are only human and being effected as well and being stretched. Just because of this virus the scumbags will still be doing bad things. We're having to taking it in turns to check the airfield given there's over £3m worth of planes in the hangers. I was stopped by the police and asked where I was going and doing. Told them they had no problems. They don't need extra work with aircraft being damaged etc.Zoo

UK, I think you will find that as the virus gained speed it became evident to the oil producers there was going to be a glut in oil requirements. Russia refused to reduce production hence what happened. Regarding the virus the main problem is the transmission speed which is overwhelming the health services throughout the world which is why they are struggling to cope. Why do you think the Chinese have done this deliberately? To get back at Trump because of his tariffs maybe? As much as I dislike him and seeing his u turn on Easter made me smile because it was way of centre. I don't think the Chinese's would do this surely? Maybe this is more about incompetence than anything else. When? I was in business we would come across a situations? that we couldn't see the logic too. Was it because they had a clever cunning plan? In the main it was down to the fact they didn't had a scooby doo what they were doing.Zoo

Zoo, I see your comments re the army may be used to support the police. There were several chinook helicopters and others flying very low over Bristol for a lengthy time a few days ago. Residents were later told it was "pre deployment practice" Sign of things to to come perhaps.

UK George with respect suggest you checkout worldometer Coronavirus. This gives you the stats without the hype. Suggest you then solely focus on the reported deaths with this figure being 1% of the total and then rework the total ( eg the active cases in Italy are then 1.25m).Suggest you then research and discover that a person with C19 needs a ventilator for 11-28 days. Suggest you then look at what happens to death rates without ventilators in which case death rates soar. I am told in older people it increases to over 20%. When you have done some thorough research you will then understand why governments across the globe are acting as they are and why they will continue to do so.

Sage, sound advice. I don't think America has really kicked off yet a little while yet. The problem being they're a large market place . I suspect here in the UK the lockdown is going to be continued for some time and by mid next week they will announce the extension and the army supporting the police. Not Martial Law but in a supportive roll.I shall possibly sell all of my GGP shares next week after the MMs have ramped up the price for the ISAs. I doubt we will see a great deal of non protected shares sold other than for profit given to sell and to claim losses because of crystallisation rules and to buy back you need the thirty days unless using a new ISA. Stay safe and well.Zoo

In terms of Banks. Undoubtedly there are those with strong balance sheets that will survive but suspending the dividends will weaken the share prices because they will now be dumped but equity income funds etc. I like Lloyd’s long term with 60p my target for 2022 and my B/e is well below this but don’t be surprised if you get a chance to buy it in the 20’s ( in the absence of medical news).

Each to their own. The sell off here was over done sound company, good mine and long mine life. Commodities are cyclical and low prices cure low prices.

These will hit a pound in a year or two.

This virus has been hyped out of all proportion. The Chinese likely have done it deliberately so they can go out and buy a load of cheap assets.

We have never had a scenario where the consumer is taken out and therefore existing models are flawed. You can’t buy a car or an outfit because the business is not open. China may be producing 85% capacity but the consumer can’t buy. In the absence of a medical breakthrough the consumer will be sidelined for ages. In terms of oil if people aren’t travelling there will be a massive glut. All the shares I sold on the rally I can buy cheaper today. However, I am in no hurry. Wait until reporting season starts and the markets have to digest the numbers and forward guidance...I am only buying blue chips with strong balance sheets. A bit of trading around the edges but bulk in cash. Alan even in a declining market there are up days, it is normal so do not be surprised. The USA will need to introduce lock downs beyond what they have currently. My advice is trade a bit but protect your core.

JPPP, I put it up expecting to be slated because I have failed to get over to a few that as I trade dividends aren't in my trading strategy. Its not that I don't like them I'm not in long enough generally to take the benefit and I don't believe that in all cases dividends will shore up a company share price. Its up to each one one us to either trade, invest or short whatever is ones way because the reason we're here is to make money. It was Sage who said about blue chips which I also feel is sound advice of investing. Your other question that you asked regarding PREFS I asked MISOLB but it wasn't him.Zoo

Not even an april fool that one!

No divis all year HSBC said, and no buy backs. Why would anyone hold a bank stock now? - I have HSBC! All the divis means I haven't lost money, but I haven't made much either. They'll now get a whole load of debts go sour on them. Was tempted by LLoyds at 30p but think they'll go lower now.

Have followed Nanoco too, but I think the advice of Zoo or Sage is right, blue chips are cheap enough, or will be, why go off piste. I guess there will be even more money to be made off piste, but risk return skewed the wrong way.

as ever good luck all and happy april fools.

Hi everybody ( I can say that now ) I haven’t been so lucky with my portfolio it’s fallen back a bit more but not to much ,I’m particularly concerned about TW this was my last ISA and the board is split fifty fifty ,some say because of the shutdown and the virus it could take years I bought it like so many of you for the dividend and like many shares it’s cut ,the same with Lloyd’s like everybody I bought because of the dividend once again it won’t be paid ,i this this is for sage to advise ,not that I don’t trust you zoo , sounds like you had a good day ,good for you ,

You have been running to teacher a lot,
lately, zooperson. Don't you think they
will take notice of how unpleasant you
have been to those you complain about?
