Any ideas who those "giant mining companies" might be?

No spare cash so sadly cannot buy any more. share price of £6-£7 would be nice for Christmas.

From The Independent today:

And the AIM-listed Greystar Resources hit another new high, up 13p to 393p. The company is developing a gold deposit in north-eastern Colombia and is widely believed to have attracted potential bid interest from one of the giant mining companies that have opened offices in the country in recent years.

There was little movement on this stock in Toronto overnight. However, the RNS in Canada was issued after the markets closed. With the gold price strengthening and this latest update could be another 7-10% on the price when the TSX opens later today.

Greystar Resources says discovers new veins at Angostura

LONDON (AFX) - Greystar Resources Ltd said it is making good progress with
the discovery of new veins at its Angostura gold-silver deposit in northeastern
Colombia.
Executive vice-president Frederick Felder said: "The latest drill results
from ten new holes continue to define a very large, near surface mineralized
system that appears suitable for a bulk tonnage, low-cost open pit mining
operation. We are especially pleased with the definition of the Veta de Barro
area where one hole returned 8.87 grams gold per tonne over 8.1 metres."

Lovely grades.

"Broad zones of mineralization were also cut in the Silencio area with hole SI05-17 hitting 2.46 grams
gold per tonne over 41.05 metres in Vein 353 and an underground hole returning 17 metres of 1.49 grams
gold per tonne in Vein 14, plus 60 metres grading 1.2 grams gold per tonne in Vein 56.

In the Veta de Barro area, drilling discovered a new vein while confirming both the structures and
grades of the previously known veins. Hole VB05-18 intersected 8.1 metres containing 8.87 grams gold
per tonne in Vein 514 and 7.8 metres grading 2.73 grams in Vein 512, plus a new vein yielding 1.55
grams gold per tonne over 14.25 metres"

This stock needed rerating to a t least £5 even before the gold price soared - new short term target £6. Bought another 3000 this morning as can see resource increasing to 20-30 million ounces of gold plus other metals

This should fly as it is a leverage play on gold price. share price in Toronto should hit another all time high today. £6 is fair LT target.

ram,

- not quite sure what you mean there - perhaps it's late :~)

- have you made 100% on this stock or do you see another 100% ?

btw, did you by any chance go to the mining analysts forum last week? - I'm interested in any views/news on HMB who presented there,

regards gb

a spot of late night name dropping. i met john dodd of artemis fame the other day - he's a lovely chap and v far from the usual suited city fund manager/owner type - and asked him whether he still held gls. he said no, had sold at 50% profit, but in retrospect too early. he agreed that was currently looking v good and at my 100% price increase target.
