Indeed .... will await the update with a sausage roll in my hand :-) The Greggs nearest me which serves a suburban residential area was much busier than normal with walk-in customers on morning of 2nd Jan. That must have been anticipated as instead of the normal 3 staff on duty then there seemed to be about 5 there. The sausage rolls were flying out of the oven, on to the shelves, and thence in to customers bags ...

Primark sells Greggs clothing range, now Greggs open third cafe in Primark stores.



"The bakery giant has confirmed plans to open its third Tasty by Greggs themed cafe in the Northumberland Street Primark store in Newcastle as its ramps up its collaboration with the high street retailer. The launch comes a year after it first announced its tie-up with Primark, to launch a limited edition fashion collection as well as the world’s largest Greggs cafe inside the Birmingham store."

Well, if the last few days in Greggs have been anything to judge by, trading should be stellar because every GRG I’ve been in has been absolutely packed and take out orders flying. Let’s hope that’s the same everywhere and the trading statement reflects it? Also, has anybody else been in Primark and seen the Greggs marked clothing in there? Many strings to their bow.

Likewise Spacecake, every Greggs I go in is packed but I worry about some high street stores if footfall is down due to train strikes and obviously their outlets in the stations themselves.

I think the opposite whale. Given GRG are at the lower end of the on the go food chain I think in the current and future financial climate they should actually benefit. I use various Greggs' regularly and I can’t remember the last time that I didn’t have to queue to be served and with the number of new openings and the internal seating being restored I see every chance of improvement.

Sold out my medium position this morning. Will regret it undoubtedly but finding it less tempting at these levels: PE vs % growth in the currently inflationary backdrop is a bit expensive for my taste.
