I would also add that very few lucky ones get a full salary. Most of those "working" from home receive an average of 80% of their salary and have therefore less spending power...they'll all be queuing up from the 3rd...?

It doesn't come as any great surprise, and really just backs up the sad lack of custom I have been observing in the Greggs outlets since last March. Maybe a successful vaccine will be the light at the end of the tunnel, and despite people talking about working from home being the new normal and impacting Greggs sales, I have my doubts. The people that are working from home where I work (mostly admin staff, who to be honest never seemed to do much that was actually useful when they had to attend the premises) seem to be doing even less actual work now they are supposedly working from home. I suspect that when normality returns, there won't be quite as much 'working' from home as people seem to think. Saying that, I took the opportunity and crystallized my losses on Greggs on the last rise, but I wish everyone the best whatever they choose to do. I hope Greggs (along with a lot of other good businesses that have been thrown to the wolves) survive the idiocy of government policy.

I don't want to minimise the above, but GRG employ something like 20,000
people. If you are one of the 800 that is no consolation.

Thought this news would have been more widely known before today as the article says it was "posted on its employee information website earlier this week" ?

I don't like this : "At lockdown levels of sales, even after all of the mitigating action that we have taken, Greggs will not be profitable as a business and there can be no room for complacency."... let's hope things change quickly :(... shares are likely to drop big time on Monday...

'Greggs an overrated outlier, says Shore Capital'

Greggs (GRG) is an ‘overrated outlier’, according to Shore Capital, which does not believe the high street baker will return to 2019 profits for another three years.

Analyst Clive Black reiterated his ‘sell’ recommendation on the shares, which rose 6.6% to £16.86 yesterday.

He said with challenges to the top line, ‘we believe it will most probably be full-year 2023 rather than 2022 before Greggs returns to 2019 trading and profit levels’.

After the bounce in the shares this week on Monday’s Covid-19 vaccine breakthrough, Black said ‘the shares remain very highly rated on whatever earnings are guided by the company for the foreseeable future’.

‘Indeed, compared to most businesses negatively impacted by stock market caution on the food and beverage channel, Greggs remains an outlier in its rating before and after [Monday’s] rally.’

just put a complaint into greggs Compliance team, they are NOT compliant with current measures - i challenged this in store and was given short change.

it's been reported to the cops now - what is the point of having controlled measures if Greggs are flouting the rules

disgraceful
