yorked: Dipped my toe in after the NEX/SGC merger news on Tuesday as GOG should be the next takeover/merger target.

hawfinch: That bid from NEX has potentially saved GOG in the short-term. Market is realising SGC can never be 50m+ more in MC than GOG, the gap needs to be closed. Also national bus stats out tomorrow.

chester9: Yes GOG 8.60 and NEX 2.20 last week. The trend had to turn. NEX management are a really good team and GOG at a third of original pre pandemic value? I have taken the optimistic view that COVID worst is over. That said footfall to big city centres is still tough. Birmingham, London, Manchester, Glasgow all down 30% on 2019. Never use last year it's nonsense on nonsense. Unlike many on This app I use buses to get around sometimes. With bus apps it's easy. Observationally the school kids are back in numbers but central London only slowly improving. I was always coming back at these prices but I may be too early we will see. GLA

hawfinch: What amazes me is the MC diff between SGC and GOG now. Only 800k. Yet, GOG has 4x its revenue as well as its BV. Im baffled to say the least.

linton5: They have promised dividend reinstatement since COVID 2020 it’s one of the very few who haven’t paid out yet,gog was a cracking divi share for along time

hawfinch: Chester, the company will make a profit in this fiscal year given they’ve operating majority of the year in a national lockdown. The main takeaway from the trading update was that their unregulated division was showing signs of 80% capacity. Unregulated or regional division for GOG is their lowest revenue generator but poses the highest risk. Furthermore, as long as the industry keeps consolidating it only means more chunk of the pie for GOG, especially as it expands its unregulated market (i.e., buying up the small players). I don’t think we will see £20 this year, but I reckon we could definitely hit £14/15.

chester9: After having a good year last year I sold out at share price 12:15 why? Company is well run but can not grow profits until COVID calms down. In addition they can not pay old style dividends as you are basically giving away the governments money. GOG will be back but with most people expecting a further lockdown in October, partial hopefully, they will not be able to deliver the 100% occupancy of 2 years ago. I sold NEX and GOG but will review when COVID takes off the controls on their operations. Sadly for 2 well run companies this may we'll be after Easter 2022. GLA

hawfinch: It’s a weird one. If we compare it with SGC (using previous interim results) we get the following (high lvl view): SGC bottom line: 4.4. GOG bottom line: 16.2 SGC revenue: 454.6 GOG revenue: 2,070.2 SGC book value: -117.2 GOG book value: 250.6 SGC total debt: -1,720 GOG total debt: -1,776.2 SGC MC: 496m GOG MC: 517m I mean, this is a short SGC & long GOG play – even though GOG is in rolling stocks.
