could be a bid here with this volume of late, usually the case on volume and breakout. Very cheap so could be a re-rating but a bid more likely.

Massive volume today with rising prices. Looks like a big buyer.

I wonder if some bigger higher rated dry bulk companies have been thinking about issuing higher rated paper to buy GOC? Another 7 ships...
Must be very tempting at current valuation gap.

GO Public up for charter in Nov08, current daily rate USD 21,000, spot rate about USD 78,000 per day(ie additional potential USD20.8m per year)

"22/06/2006 The 71,761DWT Go Public made a good landfall at the new wharf- Cam Pha Port. Following the successful reception of the 70,000DWT Baramundi on 13 Feb at Cam Pha Port, the Vinacomin-Port Company( of the Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group) at 14p.m today, 22 June welcomed the landfall of the 71,761DWT Go Public. This is the biggest cargo vessel that has ever entered a port in Vietnam( bigger vessels have to stay at the anchorage for cargo-handling). The Go Public of Bahamas nationality, 223.7m in length and 32.2m in width, is a craneless, panamax-typed vessel with 7 holds. The most interesting fact is that the vessel has been received at the new wharf of Cam Pha Port, a construction in the project
" Cam Pha Port- Its Improvement and Extension", which has been recently completed and brought in to use by Vinacomin Group. The new wharf, built under the most modern concrete-filled foundation pile technology, is 250m long, 50m long and 9m deep, capable to receive over 70,000 DWT vessels. The Go Public will load up to 67,500 tons of coal (49,500 tons of coal dust and 18,000 tons of lump coal ) for SSM, a Holland customer in Europe. The fact that the Go Public landed at the new whaft of Cam Pha Port has marked an important point in the investment task of the Vinacomin Group in general, and the Vinacomin-Port Company in particular, in the economy-increasing strategy of the Port. this looks a cracker of a play on the commodities boom. Long plenty, 5 year chart suggests a very big breakout from here.

Nice pic of the flagship Capesize GO Patoro in Scotland

"Seen at Hunterston today (1 Oct07) completing her discharge of coal, loaded at Richards Bay at the end of August, was the bulk carrier GO PATORO, a 1991-built ship of 150,108 tonnes deadweight. GO PATORO, originally named NORD-POWER then renamed DEEP BLUE in 2001 and WELFAIR in 2005, joined the fleet of Global Oceanic Carriers Ltd in October 2006 and is now registered at Limassol in Cyprus. She is 269 metres overall, with a 43 metre beam and 17.41 metres draft. She was constructed by Hyundai Heavy Industries at Ulsan in Korea, and is fitted with a 5-cylinder Burmeister & Wain engine producing 17,450 bhp at 88 rpm...."

Yes, a clear chart breakout now on a 52-week basis. All time highs are in sight, and I do not think it will be long before those are taken out. GOC looks an excellent growth story. It is still a very young company and the fundamentals are compelling.

I bt a few more this morning. When you compare the daily rate on the latest ship with those being charged on existing ones, it's clear that rates will increase substantially when contracts come up for renewal.

CB7 - oh dear... and I just bought some...

looking on the bright side it will mean it gets higher chartering rates...

and one month won't kill anyone- assume they get compensation...

stock starting to do well....

unfortunately the ship was delivered over one month late, which will mean lost revenue and possibly extra costs

discount of 42% to NAV.
P/nav 0.58x
peers trading at 1.25x

if trade in line with peers on this metric then price would be 115% higher at 270p?

looks very undervalued at current price of 125p?

Planning to deliver a ship and actually delivering are not always the same thing.

To my mind this is further confirmation that management is itself delivering on its stated action plan - which can have implications for investor confidence and hence the share price.

Why should it? It's not really new news, just a confirmation that things are on track as previously announced.
All info have been in the public domain before and are in the price.

Perhaps today's announcement will be sufficient to get the GOC share price moving to 52-week highs. The chart is certainly looking strong.

Added to my previous holding which is nicely in profit. Rerating to reflect low P/E doubling of fleet size and BDI long overdue. Long term hold? probably

Yes, and it is the best time to top up, before a push towards 150.
Just added 7000.
