Fair enough Rikky and Monty; valid bear case points. In this market there will be plenty of good entry points for quality blue chips (not to mention some exciting short term trades for the brave). Long term I remain bullish on GSK so plan to hold and potentially add on savage market-wide dips ahead, but what do I know?! GLA.

Thanks for the replies guys. So it seems not on the horizon for at least a year. But, yeah, not a fan. Costly, plus I don't rate GSK's ability to be up there with the best in what will be a very exposed R&D operation when the other two parts are spun off. They could always cancel it and 'fess up it was a bad idea but would probably need a CEO change who could kitchen sink it for that to happen..

R,
I think what has miffed some investors is the deal will cost GSK £2.4b. Rodney Hobson in the IC was moaning in his article at the time of FY RNS in February.

Monty, I agree, it only ever worked for me once, a long long time ago. As a British Leyland shareholder I was given 500 shares in their offshoot Jaguar and the rest is history.
Here the JV with Pfizer will produce annual cost savings of £0.5bn. In the grand scheme of things is it really worth it?
2022 is a long way off but it will be interesting to see how GSK proposes to give away shares in their 68%/32% GSK/Pfizer JV Consumer Healthcare business to shareholders.

I don't like it when companies sell the family silver, happened with Whitbread, sold Costa Coffee, big mistake.Ok may get a bigger dividend or may just help maintain this year's dividends, but don't like when companies do this.

I don't think that has been decided yet Rikki and it seems like it could be quite a long way off too anyway, but more knowledgeable posters may be able to shed more light on this for you...

I think the results, whilst impressive, don't really change the more subdued outlook for this year so I'm not really surprised at the share price action. But returning to an earlier question, does anyone know what the demerger will look like when it happens? Will GSK holders get a share in the new entity or just a final, bumped up dividend? I'm in the dark about this but happy for any guidance as it will influence whether I'm in for the long term here.

Looks like I'm going to have to buy some more shortly. Pleasing results to my mind, dividend position clear and yet the market feels differently. Have a good weekend all.

Yes, particularly after excellent results this week and a preservation of its healthy dividend!

Has anyone seen any sensible explanation for this very peculiar happening, whereby what appears to be very good results produces very bed reactions???

AstraZeneca way overbought, but it's great of them and GSK trying to find a vaccine for non profit on Coronavirus.

Riz,

Agree with Spud plus AZN now hugely overbought. May tumble tomorrow and come back to the 20 DMA.

I read here that AZN and GSK were both together in the discovery of the corona virus Vaccine?
