If there is a deal, STG may strengthen and that would most definitely not be good for GSK.

In MoneyWeek the chap who runs claverhouse investment trust chooses gsk as one of 3 shares he wants to own now...for the same reasons sogoesit mentions above. I think market sentiment moving in the right direction for this stock - no doubt be girations as usual but a trip to new (5yr) highs can’t be ruled out.

Matt, although it's an undisclosed amount, I also think it's not large. The business sold produces rabies vaccine which (being largely a third world market) is probably sold at low mark up?

1 Crore is approx 100k. So turnover is about £20m - not significant in the scheme of things.

New to this; buying tomorrow. - 5% yield - low multiple cf AZN etc. - re-structuring >> oncology p/line; Pfizer JV then demerge etc. Anything not to like (apart from flat divi)?

Vaccine maker Bharat Biotech on February 15 acquired Chiron Behring Vaccines from GlaxoSmithKline Asia for an undisclosed amount. Bharat Biotech will acquire a 100 percent equity stake in Chiron Behring Vaccines in an all-cash transaction, subject to a number of closing conditions which Bharat Biotech and GSK intend to complete in the coming weeks. The acquisition allows Hyderabad-headquartered Bharat Biotech to become the world's largest manufacturer of rabies vaccines. Based in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, Chiron has about 250 staff and has a World Health Organisation (WHO) pre-qualified plant with a turnover of about Rs 200 crore.

FDA creates new accelerated review pathway for generic drug applications In a statement, FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb, M.D. announces a new pathway for accelerated view of marketing applications from generic drugmakers for off-patent branded medicines facing no generic competition, a situation characterizing "hundreds" of such drugs that serve small patient populations and/or are difficult to copy due to their complexity. hTTps://seekingalpha.com/news/3433986-fda-creates-new-accelerated-review-pathway-generic-drug-applications#email_link

Yeah amazed I've not made any money on my little short so far this afternoon. Usually it's paid for a Friday night out by now. At this rate we might get to close without the oh so predictable plunge to lower than open.
