Is it just possible that the seller is done, or has backed off a little, as bid and offer both rise? Or am I being too glass half full about things ;-)

sorry if i late to this but what is the particular concern here? the rising yield you would expect with rising uk interest rates, which may tick up for a while yet is surely not unexpected ? is the thought here that smart sellers see something more turbulent coming than we expect in 2023?

In theory, yes, it should fall by the half yearly amount on XD day, ceteris paribus

A quick question .Does the share price of these preferentials fall 4.37 on ex dividend in December ? I seem to remember being in RUSP which never seemed to fall on ex div day.TIA.

I'm beginning to wonder given the volume going through on GACA, if that's going to be replicated on the other Aviva prefs, there might be millions to go yet.

Hard to guess what's going on really.

I'm still waiting. With 5.1% available on a 5 year building society/bank FSCS bond, the rate offered here doesn't excite me. Only thing is I can't get that in my SIPP or ISA but it's getting to the point I'm seriously thinking about switching some of my non-tax wrapper investments into straight bank/building society bonds. 5% on a 2 year FSCS bond from Vanquis looks good value to me.

All these capital returns they keep doing not best for us debt holders, rather it went on an excess capital asset to increase the 8.8bn surplus
If this seller means more PI shareholders, then cant hurt long term as moves needle a bit against any forced redemption, as I have found in past

Of course they will if they are thinking of buybacks, dividends first.

Can't see any mention other than incredibly well capitalised and no external LDI commercial exposure. Perhaps the relevant part: As at 30 June 2022, total Group assets under management at Aviva Group were GBP353 billion and our Solvency II shareholder capital surplus as at 30 September 2022 was GBP8.8 billion

When they announced their results in 2018, the statement about prefs was hidden near the bottom of the notes. The prefs prices barely moved until FT Alphaville mentioned it shortly before noon, when the rush started. The bank prefs didn't follow suit until later in the day.

When the results next come out, best do a search of the text. In Firefos, CTRL+F will find a word, I don't know about other browsers.

I've always believed that bond market pricing far more accurately reflects risk/reward than does the share market. Worth looking at bond performance when assessing a company before commiting serious funds to their shares.

Stan, if you input piBS in the EPIC there are two boards dedicated to the discussion but neither have any activity for at least a couple of years.
