Excellent stuff, never expected a trading statement quite so soon.

Yes, 80p/sh (ish!) has looked quite likely for some time...

The only mystery is why f/c's were still so low!

Woah, middle of the day trading statement!

"Profits for 2016/17 are likely to be materially above market expectations."

Thanks for the explanation Nod, must admit I was also scratching my head about the 25p interim dividend and wondered why I couldn't see any xd or payment dates. So being quirky and paying dividends in a random way explains it.

30p dividend payment due tomorrow........

GW doesn't tie dividends to its results. It likes to announce dividends at random, as you can see from the months above. It's always done quirky things.

Not sure they mess about with calling the dividends interim and final, they just pay them out when they have the cash :-) 25p paid in December and 30p due in March is my understanding.

If that is the case how come they paid the interim divi before the interim results which were on the 10th Jan?

Don't you just love the unpredictability of a predictable dividend? The XD months since 2013 have been: March 2013, May, August, June, October, February, August, April, October, January 2017.Spot the pattern?Total dividend over those months is 203pA great place to be.

Wasn't the 25p paid 2nd December?

Special divi of 30p due to shareholders this Friday, but does anyone know when the interim divi of 25p is due? I cant see a date anywhere for that.

Woozle, yes, unusual but +ve. I get the impression that not many holders want to sell.Daily volumes have been higher than normal over the past three months. Coinciding with the strong rise in share price GAW could often go a few weeks with barely any trades. Perhaps an insti or two is steadily accumulating.

Interesting that the dip when the stock went ex-div was so small. In past years it's normally fallen like a rock!

In fairness to the IC they did had a buy recommendation for the them in July's issue.

frazboy, my thoughts too. Did they tip GAW as a buy last year?Questor at The Telegraph got it right on 26 July 2016 with the "risky" tip to Buy at 465p. This was partly based on the pound's steep fall.

a bit late for that tip, although no one doubts that the next set of results will be excellent with somewhere between 60p and perhaps 75p of earnings. I guess the issue as to what value there is here, is, to what extent can the recent performance be sustained? sales and hence earnings have been quite variable in the past.
