17/4/2009 19:22 | jab - no real influence in the grand scheme of things i suppose, but he does have a good track record and so I thought some people might be interested to know he's aboard... Agree - his book(s) are very readable and worth a look, especially if you're new to this lark. | yetifur
17/4/2009 18:09 | yetifur.. has Robbie Burns got that much of an influence? I admit, I did read his last book over xmas as it was left in my stocking and his book was very interesting that I couldn't put I down.. -- brokers website broke thats a good brocker then, as that happend to me, so he picked up the phone and rang me back, almost immediately. | jab118
17/4/2009 16:09 | Naked Trader has bought in: "Galiform (GFRM) looks interesting - I keep reading in the papers about a possible bid here, as usual taken with a pinch of salt. Even so this is a great looking recovery play for me. Debt is not so huge and the joinery business looks sound so I've bought with a medium-term view that it could be a potential doubler. Target 40 stop 15. I bought 15,000 at 19.9p - directors bought shedloads quite recently. Tried to then buy more but my broker's website broke. So I also picked up £100 a point with a spreadbet at 20.15. (Spreadbet firms charge extra spread) My goodness! As I write they have just sped up to 23p. There is real heavy buying going on. Now I'm hoping something good is going to happen.. " | yetifur
17/4/2009 14:57 | I take it Pat has collapsed with all the excitement!!! ;) | trojan
17/4/2009 14:57 | This is more like it, let's hope it sticks at the close and then we can consolidate next week!! | trojan
17/4/2009 14:07 | Yep, we must keep our feet on the ground as well!! A big trade of 51.45m is in that total and if you also add up all the big trades of 750k plus at 20.5p after that one you get to 48.05m, so 3.4m have gone to joe public and the insti's have taken the rest imo!!! The good thing is that the seller should be out of the way and the new buyers will be in for the longer haul and a decent return, this should help the share price move on now and hit 30p within 3/4 weeks, hopefully sooner, but we are not out of the woods completley with these markets imo! Tick tock ;) | trojan
17/4/2009 13:43 | all i can Trojan is over 101,000 000 traded and it's only lunch time:-) | jab118
17/4/2009 13:02 | I think most of them have missed the bottom, but there are still very good returns to be made from this level even with the odd retracement etc!! I need 25p now for breakeven, but I won't be selling for less than a pound unless something much better comes along in the next 18 months or so!! | trojan
17/4/2009 12:55 | queen.. It could be that alot of professionals, are thinking the building sector are showing signs of recovery, so are investing in building stock. | jab118
17/4/2009 12:50 | thx for that Trojan .. new you were here :-) | jab118
17/4/2009 12:49 | Starting to move. Any comments as to why? | queenbreguet
17/4/2009 12:45 | TP have always been in the background and have made no secret of their interest in Howdens and this goes back to when it was part of MFI, but MFI were never going to sell the profitable side of thier business to anyone!! There have been sellers in the stock, but there have been buyers for them also, it is just a fact of life when we have these downturns on the markets. I think we are seeing a new interest in the shares imo, as they have been cheap as chips for some time and will go well north of 100p when the recovery gets going. The movement in stocks such as BDEV and CAL from their lows tells us that a recovery is about to happen, in both residential and commercial property imo and Galiform are in an excellent place to make the most of this! I have no doubt that there will be an attempted bid at some point, but feel that they will go it alone unless a very silly inflated price is paid and very soon!! DYOR!! Edit: Nice rise and no doubt some weekend press to follow!! | trojan
17/4/2009 12:42 | or it could be this. | jab118
17/4/2009 12:31 | trullynessle.. Trojan .. Can tell you more about that, TP are interest yes, but before they can they need to raise some pennies first. | jab118
17/4/2009 12:22 | There was a rumour a few days / weeks ago that Travis Perkins were interested. (Speculation only - not ramping) | tullynessle
17/4/2009 12:18 | or it could be that Crispen Odey has taken a interest? | jab118
17/4/2009 12:11 | Could be that the BP Pension Fund have sold their remaining 51 million shares (8.15%). Note the RNS a few minutes ago about the Pension Fund sale on 16th April. | tullynessle
17/4/2009 12:07 | someone.. and someone else | jab118
17/4/2009 12:03 | So who sold 51,450,000 shares at 12.00 today. And perhaps more importantly - who is buying them???? | tullynessle
17/4/2009 11:48 | I'm keeping my mouth shut... | venkata
15/4/2009 15:00 | These shares are going somewhere and I just hope that they are close to being out or near the holding that they want so that we can break 20p and move on!! | trojan
09/4/2009 08:21 | Nasty setbacks are part of the initiation for new daytraders. If you're lucky you might learn from them before all your money's gone. | grahamite2
08/4/2009 09:48 | Trojan nice and steady rise 1p aday suits me fine , this rocket price rising eg.YELL not good for the market only to see it parashute back down again with some investors gravely disappointed after being caught at the top of a day trade. jab | jab118
07/4/2009 15:55 | Some very large trades going through now!! Could be insti's swapping stock, time will tell as they say. | trojan |
