The share price is just simmering for now, but 40p is just around the corner methinks and then we should see a bit of movement imo!! ;)

still think that gfrm can make 8p eps when economy recover which will make em 80p...what a shame those leases hanging round thir neck!! what a shame

Not sure it will be just one thing that sets this off again imo, for me it will be a mixture of the general housing market beginning to move on the back of mortgages being a bit cheaper, house building projects starting apace and local authorities spending again!!

The last thing I want to see is a bid, they have the potential to make a very good recovery on their own, but as ever if a bid was all cash and around 60p in the next month then that would free up our money to take advantage of other stocks. This would still give us the same return or better over the 12/18 months it would take GFRM to get to 100p+ imo, but it's all just guess work for now as we have heard the word "bid" too many times with this company over the last couple of years or so.

trojan...what is catalyst to push these out of 30-40p range? Do tpk have enough money to launch a bid for these?could anyine else? robbie burns seems to be convinced he keeps mentioning this as a t/over hope I think.

Who GFRM?

Hard to say really, but how many people do you know that are aware of Howdens as a business?
Unless your know a kitchen fitter most people will not have heard of them and that's why I say with the demise of MFI there is an opportunity for them to have a go at the retail market and set up a handful of stores ready for when the recovery happens etc!!
I still feel they will pick up some business from MFI, but not as much as the retailers imo.

so they wont have benefited at all from mfi demise?

Not really, most of GFRM business is with trade and local authorities, B&Q will be picking up part of the hole left by MFI!!! ;)

trojan...I like the thinking....last question ..why were lfl down 10 pct recently yet KGF were flattish and sales of kitchens were great. Are gfrm losing market share?

Not yet!!

I do think we are at the bottom for commercial property, but to be honest GFRM could hold on and off load in to any rise in that sector at an even lower cost than doing it right now!!

Just a thought and nothing more.

thx for that ...If int rates rise then that will mean econonomy is recovering strongly and thus these puppies will be flying...so lets hope that happens!!!

Pat, if I had to put my neck on the line then it is a 75/80% probability in my mind, but if we see more increases on the mortgage approvals front and more signs from the building industry of housing projects being restarted then it could be sooner.
Not sure about you, but I have read no end of articles about property investment companies raising war chests to pick up cheap deals etc and this is just another sign of what is soon going to happen as these guys do it everytime and manage to make a fortune in the process.
We also stand the risk of interest rate rises before the year is out and that would throw the cat amongst the pigeons for the recovery, so who knows and a possible election mixed in for good measure!!

Enough of the politics as this company is good enough to come through imo and should be a lot stronger coming out than it was going in to the current mess.

trojan...what probability do you attach to a 100p within 18 months...80 pct?!!

Agreed Pat, but I just don't want to get too carried away. There are signs of a recovery around the corner, but it could easily stall at any time, med/long term though this is a winner and will be back to 100p a share within the next 12/18 months, if not sooner!!

Yep, we have seen it go to 39p and then fall back 2 or 3p, so 39.5p would seem to be a barrier to break, although 40p sounds better!! ;)

We need to break 40p and consolidate, but this one is a no brainer for the med/long term!!

I hold in an ISA & SIPP.

Nice move this morning.

queen, the share price has been trashed and way off highs due to all the doom and gloom from the economic climate that has knocked the housing market for six!!
As the sector picks up and houses start to move/built again, confidence will return and quality stocks such as this will once again return to their rightful place at the top!!

Worth a 100p a share at the very least imo!!

Probably partly because TPK is rising as a possible bidder
