12/9/2012 18:42 | Rhotoid - it has everything to do with NIMBY's or, in this case, a lone NIMBY. He kicked up a stink because, for him, this has become a crusade to fill his time. We won the decision, he appealed, and has recieved a stay of execution based on some technicality no doubt. Agree about the buys bamboo. Has held up relatively well. Will see what the next few days bring though | georgethefourth
12/9/2012 17:16 | georgethefourth et al. Nothing to do with nimbies, the council has clearly messed up - the crucial point is that it's accepted it's guilty as it's not going to defend the JR. Doesn't help us now I know (as we're stuffed) but I do hope the company is looking to reclaim lost production from the council if it all goes through again at the second time of asking. | rhotoid
12/9/2012 17:15 | Looks like someone is still buying the shares at this price. The export of the rock should not be too critical an issue, once the adit has been constructed, as there will be a significant volume to be backfilled, and the company could place some newly excavated rock, alongside that from the spoil heap. Under the circumstances, the company could also think about applying for permission to slightly raise the finished levels. A few metres over the southern area of kearney could really help. It's an interesting challenge and a good thing I'm in this for the long term. lol. | bamboo2
12/9/2012 16:24 | Now now guys we must be reasonable and balanced. On the one hand we have a mine, providing employment, taxes and knock on benefits to local businesses ect. And all that in a time of rising unemployment, economic slowdown and hardship. But on the other hand we have the gentlemans view from his kitchen window. It is a tough one... | georgethefourth
12/9/2012 16:00 | I'd agree with that George. I think the important thing is that the political battle is being won. What struck me looking at the underground mine application was how few letters of opposition there were, just 3. If you compare that to some of the others in the last few years when there were dozens and dozens. | ttnyrp
12/9/2012 15:51 | I think if I was one of the near 50 families directly working at the mine to be put out work because of him I might be inclined 'To get on the phone and give him a piece of my mind'. I think his war of attrition could come back and bite him in the proverbial. Certainly he won't be winning any popularity awards around Omagh any day soon. Personally I see this speeding up a solution rather than slowing it down, but then I do have a tendency to think common sense will prevail. | nat hart
12/9/2012 15:37 | Nat - i cant see them allowing it to close no, but it just drags the saga on, potentially for a fair bit longer. Imagine the reaction to the news today if that part had been left out. New planning permission granted, passing bays completed and rock removal from site imminant. Wed have been laughing. This justdrags it out and adds to the uncertainties. The NIMBY is obviously going for a war of attrition - trying to drag this out for so long that we run out of money. But 1. I cant see that happening and 2. Even if it did the mine would be taken over and wouldnt just cease to exist. He cant win, and must know it, but like a dog with a bone cant let go. If they granted permission once, i imagine it will just be a case of crossing the t's and dotting the i's on the new application | georgethefourth
12/9/2012 15:31 | "The Company notes the recent strong expressions of support it has received from key politicians adjoined to the planning process, from across the community. This support is likely to accelerate planning matters." Interesting. | buoyant
12/9/2012 15:29 | Two points : 1. Surely this will speed up the granting of planning permission for the underground mine. 2. No one in this political climate can allow one nimby individual to put 50 people out of work. Won't the government get involved? They won't allow the closure of the mine will they? Sorry George t4 ... You'd already made that point. | nat hart
12/9/2012 15:24 | So after all that time to get permission its going to have to go back to review all over again? Its not the companies fault and must be frustrating as hell for roland. Cant seem to catch a break. Seems incredible that one person can put such a spanner in the works and cause so many job losses in economically difficult times. All because of NIMBYism | georgethefourth
12/9/2012 15:12 | What is fantastic about the planning consent for the removal of rock being quashed In fact it will lead to job losses and ultimately they will have to stop open cast minning | richandjanet
12/9/2012 15:08 | I'm a bit surprised no one is commenting on what must be a fantastic piece of news...... or am I missing something? | nat hart
10/9/2012 22:01 | pelgis, thanks for the reply. It seems very quiet here lately... There are a number of changes that I have noted from your recent pictures. Some calculated guesses. It looks like preparations are well under way for the covered adit [central area of Kearneyv] The old offices have been removed. Work has begun to remove the central spoil heaps. A new extra large settling pond has come into use, replacing those preventing the extension of the Kerrv. Work continues to re-instate the southern end of Kearney, with some areas 'greening up' nicely. | bamboo2
10/9/2012 19:42 | Speaking at the PDAC (Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada) conference in Toronto, one of the leading mining conferences in the world, Patrick Anderson, CEO of Dalradian Resources said he hopes to create Europe's second largest gold mine at Curraghinalt in west Tyrone. He told audience members the mine, if approved, will produce 160,000 ounces of gold a year and could rival famous Canadian mines in the Abitibi region of Ontario and Quebec. | pelgis

10/9/2012 00:09 | Hi pelgis, most of the UK has had poor weather this year. In the south-east we have also had a very wet spring and summer, I imagine not conducive to flying. Thanks for the pictures of the mine. I hope it's okay to reproduce them here for a while? It's good to be able to compare them together. I can certainly see some changes. 2011 2012 | bamboo2

06/9/2012 16:44 | Gold maybe to the rescue, but, I think I would prefer planning approval & some drilling results indicating some bonanza grades......now that would be just what the gooooood doc ordered........Nurse | topbidd
06/9/2012 16:32 | Gold in GBP looking perky. Chart looks like we are ready to take on £1100 again. In the medium term, if it takes a break £1100, we could be looking at a potential cup and handle formation. Gold to the rescue! | bamboo2 |
