10/10/2003 07:09 | oh dear. Getmapping in a flap as letters go astray By Rosie Murray-West, City Correspondent (Filed: 10/10/2003) Royal Mail received a royal seal of disapproval yesterday when Getmapping, the aerial photography company which had the Queen as a founder shareholder, complained that official documents had been delayed in the post. Getmapping is in the process of delisting from Aim and had sent its shareholders its interim results and notice of an extraordinary general meeting to gain approval for cancellation of the listing. The company issued a statement to the stock exchange yesterday saying the interim results "were put into the postal system on September 24, 2003, where, as a result of recent industrial action by Royal Mail's employees, they have remained ever since". The statement added that Royal Mail assured Getmapping that the "documents will be processed immediately". A spokesman for the company said: "Of course we're annoyed. No one expects their mail to take three weeks." He added that the company had issued the statement because it didn't want people to think it had delayed telling shareholders about the meeting, on October 28, on purpose. Royal Mail said yesterday it had cleared all the backlogs associated with the one-day strike in London on October 1. The spokesman said she was not aware of the specific circumstances surrounding Getmapping's difficulties. The company floated in April 2000 at the height of the dotcom boom and the shares hit a peak of 224p, when the Queen's shares were worth just under £1m. The shares closed down 0.2 at 5p yesterday. Getmapping declined to say whether the Queen was still a shareholder, adding that the shares are held in nominee accounts. The company recently settled a court action with Ordnance Survey after claiming its mapping rival breached competition laws. | bionicdog

09/10/2003 09:05 | Dussi...who do you work for ;-)? | maestro.
09/10/2003 08:51 | So Dussi, why would people want to sell just so you can pick em up cheap... | skiski
09/10/2003 08:30 | At this price anyone who buys is crazy - imo. Well done to all of you who bought at 1.5 - 3.5p! It will drop LIKE A STONE, within a couple of weeks. I will pick up, for long term dividends etc.. when the mass exodus occurs shortly. If you have profits count yourself lucky and leave - there is no re-listing, they can't do a u-turn. I've been caught by this once before, never again (and if you must buy, don't buy more than double the NMS or you'll have reall difficulty selling). | dusseldorf |
