Curbey's preferred media pick for the coming quarter (despite also mentioning Trinity Mirror and Johnston Press) is Future Network, rated as a "buy".

The rescue rights issue last autumn turned it around. It has gone from a net debt to a net cash position. Future Network has also benefited from the current positive game cycle as it has the Playstation 2 rights. 75% of FNET's revenue is derived from circulation rather than advertising. That makes it better insulated from the continued advertising downturn that is currently crippling many other media plays. Curbey also expects the company's 4Q results to be good on year on year comparatives. Mind you, that should be easy given the poor year FNET had in 2001. But a bit of M&S syndrome could benefit the share price.

AGM Weds 29 May - could be some positive sounds if the magazines are doing anything like the game machines are doing.

2m trade at the close, and some more other large trades too in the 200K-400K range.

All this just before the AGM.

Chart looks like we could be making a run to £1 nearly:

Type FNET in the ticker box.

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Following a period of disposals and a rights issue, magazine group Future Network looks set for a growth period ahead. A publisher of computer games titles among others, FNET is a buy at 62p, in the view of the Sunday Express.

LONDON (SHARECAST) - According to Beeson Gregory the cut in the price of Nintendo's GameCube, which is due for UK release in May, should be good news for the Future Network which is launching an unofficial GameCube title in May. Future Network's shares are 1p higher at 65.5p.

Good way to exploit some upside from new games consoles without having the turbulent time with some of the listed game development companies. Bought in after results and in small profit thus far - quiet board this, but a stock worth holding IMHO / DYOR

I seem to buy quite a few mags every month - mainly music and graphics oriented - nearly all Future titles and all highly regarded publications - nice to be able to easily check out the product and enjoy it.

Blimey - this thread seems to have gone to sleep.

Finally bought into this, HHO and WDSW after some private research I undertook told me that the print and publishing sector has bottomed for a lot of the smaller restructured publishers and printers.

Take a look. Call up the charts on ADVFN and overlay WDSW, HHO, FNET, FMR, QRT

You'll get the picture straight away. HHO in particular, WDSW and FNET are my faves and closest to what I did my research on.
