Very acceptable results and the company have indicated that the future prospects are quite up-beat.

Results tomorrow but dont be surprised at the tone of the statement as they appear to be a bit downbeat, and always add some degree of caution. The latter is obvious as it advises that the last month or so leading up to Christmas is key. Anyway, despite a slight fall off in the UK over 1H the US side seems to be steaming and this will provide the additional momentum for full year profits and a sound future. The shares should firm but life is full of uncertainties/surprises!

MM's are still having to buy stock to keep up with demand ... I predict movement tomorrow ... but dont hold me to it ;)

Agreed the (hypothetical) shorter would probably not have known about the tip, so it comes back to the seller into strength - perhaps limit sell orders being triggered?

Agree...but not so certain about a shorter...they would not have know about the tip...basically confused like you. However, cant really see any major downside with prospects looking so encouraging. Wish I had something more to add.

Cyberian good afternoon. I believe we have established that the flurry of trades yesterday and today is down to a tipster but I am absolutely amazed to find that we are STILL the only two regular posters on this thread. I would have expected far more comment etc.

The lack of upward price movement today despite strong small buying indicates to me a blockage in the system - strongly suspect and stick with my theory of the large seller into strength. The other possibility (remote imo)is some shorting going on - the theory being that once all the small buys are absorbed the balance would be in favour of the shorter and this could then be shorted further with little resistance. This is a possibility but there doesn't seem to be the opportunity in the chart or fundamentals for the normal short or long seller to hold it down for long.

As far as I am concerned the stock screams out as a buy and my instincts are to apply a following stop-loss and stick with it as far as it goes. Any thoughts on this?

Retail buying continues...MM's must have the stock to sell at current levels. However, looking at trading over past 6 weeks or so this share appears to attract strong holders. It's a steady share and a tad boring for some but the fundamentals are now excellent and we should see a firm run up over coming months. Again always the chance of that EMAP bid or a bidder from the US or Europe. There are a number of names that have the cash and/or the higher valued paper to make a bid. Looking forward to some good earnings over next 6/12 months....be patient and one could see 100p easily in due course IMHO..DYOR and take at look at the company's web site.

Lots of interest today, all buys, anyone know why.
Has it been tipped somewhere?

You are right it wasn't Mike.
Very close charles ... first initial is right ... but second is wrong ;)
I got the email tip at 12:19pm today, looking at the trade screen it looks like its totally down to his tip, as thats when all the buys came in.

Thanks riggsy - would I be anywhere near the truth if I said the initials TW? I don't think it's Mike Walters.

Just bought in @68p. ;)
It as been tipped today but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say by who, all I will say is that its an internet tipster via email and the price target he as published is 100. As you can see he has quite a few followers :)

Goodluck everyone.

Hi! so we have seen two largish MM trades at 67p, and an earlier 250,000 trade at 66.5p and now another large T trade. The small buyers must be all retail and from some internet tip or like today. From previous days we have seen large trades above the bid price so with this share very tightly held I see we need a decisive push through 68p on the chart to reach higher ground. Maybe wrong but now doubt a large after hours seller.....MM's just moved the price around to test reaction or to try to secure some stock. However, there may well be a more simple explanation.....we shall see...results out 29th Sept I think....but its the 2H which should really inspire more confidence and buyers into this solid earner now that it has re-focussed its priorities. DYOR and dont get too excited....yet!

Yep - I'm almost certain it's someone big selling into strength through one Market Maker. The price is bobbing around like a jack-in-the-box. Every time it rises the seller dribbles another one through and the price falls back. Might be someone with a sell price target who bought at a much lower price. Whatever it is, it makes the day interesting so I'm not knocking it.

Cyberian it's amazing we find ourselves chatting to each other with no other posters around - especially with the activity today.

It's certainly not looking bad at the moment but I am truly puzzled by the sudden influx of smallish trades - counted 177 mainly buys between 12.00 and now. Never seen anything like it on FNET. I reckon something's leaked but it hasn't reached the big boys yet. Can't think of any other explanation. Any deals in the offing to your knowledge?

Now a MM has done a trade at 67p I cant understand what the H--- is going on here. Also have seen the Investtech material and posiible rise to circa 91. Recently it appeared that some big buyers were into the stock....must be patient I guess and all will be revealed.

Agree...all a bit odd...obviously a retail tip somewhere but why the drop on the offered from 68p to 67p when they had many takers at the former offer. As you say....must be a delayed seller . Still like the thought of EMAP making a paper offer.

Something's happening to spark off all this activity and the trades appear to be mainly buys but it isn't lifting the price much. Strange situation but it looks as if there could be a fairly large sell in the wings.

Can't help feeling this is going to jump soon. Investtech says "Has given positive signal from a rectangle formation by a break up through the resistance at 65.56. Further rise to 95.63 or more is signaled. The stock has support at p 63.00. "

Sorry no...but anyway have bought more at 65.5p as they appeared to have resisted a breach below 63p for some while...what we need now is a move above 67p for a potential break-out on the up-side. Results are due 23rd Sept I believe...will be OK particularlu on the US side and hopefully the company will be a tad more up-beat on 2H. However, they always caution as to the importance of the December quarter importance.

Got into these yesterday at this morning at 64.93

I am quite pleased about that seeing what has happened today.

Anybody see the article in Sunday Business a few weeks ago.

Hatman...I have been away but checked out all those odd and large trades at mid price...they were mainly marked ordinary trades so they could not be Xtrades or portfolio switches. The company seems to be quite conservative which I guess is right but it leaves us lesser mortals trying to dig/research etc. to take a view on true value. No clues to work on other than the impressive figures in the US...here in UK it is only 19 I think out of 52 titles which are audited monthly unless I am missing something? Still think they are fair value at present with the perhaps remote possibility that EMAP could be interested...as said before latter has highly valued paper which they could issue I guess. If fall back any more may add but reluctant to at present with lack of clarity on the share chart.

A whole series of strange mid price crosses, delayed and protected trades have gone through the market in the last few days - all of them slap bang on the critical chart support point of 65p. Very strange.

Agree. I own a few, but I'm waiting for a breakout above 68/69. I like the way the shares have fallen to successfully retest the resistance/support at 65/66. Investtech have a price target of 93p, but I'd like to see the triple top at 68/69 broken before I'd be confident of a decent rise.

Needs watching daily, I think, for the right opportunity.

As you say "interesting" as trade was MM and above the offered price....chart suggests a break-out above 68.5p...time will tell.

Interesting MM deals today, just below the resistance at 67/69.
